I only have one or two moss poles... Any more and it becomes a chore to constantly keep the poles moist. Plants for me, makes my life beautiful and gives me peace. If it doesn't, well small will have to do haha

❤ here in the high desert area of Central Oregon I have used saran wrap quite successfully for several years with my moss poles.

I have seen videos on watering moss poles before, but none addressing the issue of not getting the roots to attach to the moss pole. I will definitely try the glad wrap trick. Thank you so much!

I like misting the moss before watering if it's really dry. You can get it moist enough to absorb the water in seconds :)

Ive been using OLD wood planks. I use a spray can of rubber coating on the end i put in the soil so it doesn't rot. I spray the wood with a water sprayer and the OLD wood soaks up the water and holds it like nobody's business. I found out by accident and it's wonderful. Stays wet for several days or a week. 💚💚💚 The plastic wrap is a great idea too

Nice that those terracotta plant stakes can also hold a water bottle!

Thanks Jeff, I have a couple on moss poles and have fungus gnat problems, but it is what it is for now.

If you make the holes in the water bottle smaller, the water drips out more slowly, and you don’t have to worry about it running too quickly down dry moss because it happens gradually. I do one or two little pin holes in the cap, with one pin hole in the bottom of the bottle so that the water flows.

What a great idea. I'm getting rid of my planks. I'll do this to my moss polls

How interesting especially for growth direction ! The terracotta spike I like would work well with my plants up high that might not get checked and watered as often!Great t shirt my monstera has a fresh leaf always a highlight ! 👋🏻Jeff

I bought acrylic sheets to put on the backs of my DIY poles to hold moisture longer. I use 1/4 to 1/2 bottle of nutrient water in between waterings to keep the moss moist. Ive never had a problem with the plants not rooting into the poles 🤔

Interesting with the Saran wrap ~ I take it that once those aerial roots establish into the moss that they have more chance of surviving when the wrap is removed. You may have tried this already only I was wondering if amending your moss/aroid mixed (used in the poles) with those water-retaining gel pellets...the sort recommended for hanging baskets (that also lose moisture quickly), will help reduce evaporation. Your collection is really beginning to mature now with those amazingly large leaves...so dramatic & beautiful!

Great video and info. I struggle with keeping poles moist! I'm going to try the saran wrap right away

Great opportunity for someone with a 3d printer to design some kind of clip on cover for the front of moss poles to cover most of the openings but leaving space for the plant on the front. For those of us vain enough to want to avoid cling film!

I hope the plastic wrap works. I wrapped 2 of my monsteras to poles. I have a water sprayer and I spray/wet the moss under the areas I have the wrap on. Trying to get a plant to attach to a plank with this method also. I don't remember where I heard this, maybe the Sydney Plant channel, but cutting the plant back and putting a small plant on a pole enables it to attach easier/faster.
