I needed this! I grow Japanese pink with yellow dandelions and have never tried root tea.

Dandelions are often considered a weed but are one of the few plants introduced to almost every continent that isn't actually invasive, they can be eaten by practically anything and don't directly compete with native flora or even other crops, and above all else, they are healthy to consume.
They should be a welcome sight on a lawn or garden, i suggest that dandelion lawns are more favorable and easier to take care of than grass lawns.

You guys should try frying the dandelion blossoms! A light crispy batter completely transforms them, it’s such nostalgic Appalachian summer treat for me.

I remember dandelion tea when I was a kid. Being a millennial who had parents that were raised poor and in the mountains of the south really had some advantages lol

My Grandad used to roast these in the oven for a coffee substitute. Dandelion root is also used as a diuretic. My Grandmother used the blooms to make Dandelion Wine.

My grandmother used to make a wilted dandelion salad in spring which is delicious! She made it with sautéd bacon, garlic, and apple cider vinegar. YUM!! Outstanding flavour.

Coffee place I used to work at had dandelion root late, made with pure maple syrup, a sprinkle of salt, and oat milk. It was AMAZING!! I'm gonna have to collect my dandelions this year...

You two are what I dream of having in the future, someone like me who would love to forage and live like this.

I absolutely love yalls shorts! I know just enough about so many of these topics that my adhd easily gets annoyed by others videos that way over explain. Plus toddlers arent great at letting you watch a 10+ min video.

But your shorts are so well.done and perfectly edited that I get the missing bits to connect the dots in my brain.

Thank you!

Just did my first wild parsnip harvest today! The fragrance of the root and the cooked greens were incredible. My next harvest will have to also include some dandelions, especially before people start to remove them or worse, spray them as the spring growth begins to emerge even more ... These wonderful plants have so much to offer! If we don't want them growing in a certain area, at least we could consume them to appreciate their presence!

It is interesting how the companies that make the weed killer chemicals are owned by bigger companies that make blood pressure medication.

We have a huge field behind our house that becomes a blanket of yellow with all the dandelions. We go out there and pick the flowers to fry them and eat. Haven't made a tea yet, but always mean to! I'll need to be intentional about it this year to give it a try!! We do plan on growing pink and white ones, so maybe I'll try with those!

I keep dandelions because they're an early blooming flower for bees 🐝 !!

The few that have popped up in my flower beds so far have gotten fed to my chickens. I tried eating the leaves last year but they were too bitter for my taste. I'll have to try the root though!

I’ve been avoiding getting rid of mine because I heard people made salad back from the Great Depression out of them. So I wanted to see if something would come to me more like this so I can use them instead of killing them. So thank you for this, & I love all the nature knowledge! Keep bringing it to the world 👍🏽🫶🏽🙌🏽

This ma said he studied dandelions and nature makes them grow where the soil needs calcium. The dandelions will die and fall away after they do their job. He says that’s why pl have need to enrich their soil because they strip it of nutrient growing plants such as the dandelion. Now by your recommendation they are good for us to consume. Thanks fir that. There should be more aaareness of this. Thank you

As a teenager in the 60' s I remember going with my Mom and Aunt out to the woods for dandelion's. Then made a hotdressing with bacon, vinegar and sugar thickened with a beaten egg, flour and water. Then wilte the greens. I still make it, but with endive or spinach. Good wild food!
