Saturday Night Live has been a mainstay of weekend television since the 1970s, and a lot of things haven’t changed much over the years. The show’s production schedule is the same as it always was, it’s still making fun of politicians left and right, and it is still seen as a serious starting-off point for comedians who want to make it big in show business.

However, there have been some big changes over the years as well, as the first season of the show actually featured Muppets and even had a different name. Let’s take a look at the untold truth of Saturday Night Live.

I  was an intern at the show the week they did the cowbell sketch. No one thought it'd be the show's last major catch-phrase.

i lol'd at Leslie Jones being named among the most brilliant people that ever showed on TV. she didn't belong at all in that list.

The biggest untold truth of SNL is that it isn't funny at all. Virtually every sketch MadTV ever ran had me rolling in the floor, and every actor on that show was gold, especially Michael McDonald. Virtually every sketch of SNL leaves me feeling terribly awkward for the actors and the live audience. (Like, the same feeling I get when a twelve-year-old tries to tell a joke.)

The Land Shark skit... and everything John Belushi did... "Killer Bee's" and Samurai Futoba and Cheeseburger Cheeseburger Cheeseburger ! ...and Eddie Murphy's "Mr Robinson's neighborhood" skit...I still remember trying in vain to catch my breathe between fits of laughing so hard it hurt. Legendary comedy skits for 40 years.

The PC that has infected SNL has totally destroyed it and has made it completely unwatchable.

SNL, otherwise known as "Leftist show so, sooo woefully past its prime. I didn't even realize it was still on.

To include Leslie Jones in the group in the beginning... she's easily the worst person on the show. All she does is loud roles where she's very forward with her sexual remarks. It may have been funny at first, but it got stale quick. Don't support her just because it's trendy.

I would have to say my favorite is the celebrity Jeopardy series, closely followed by two wild and crazy guys. Though, I also love the political satire ones
