Tales of the Star Wars Galaxy: Darth Sidious talks to Darth Bane about the Rule of Two

That line gave me chills because of how true it is

Ok, the dialogue is Soooo good ! It drips with venomous intensity. Your ability to tap into the characters and their motivations -thru your writing. Not only does it brings the characters to life, but makes them fleshed out in every capacity. Resulting for those watching, waiting on every word as if it were dynamite on a short fuse.

I think that would have been a good time for Palpatine's evil laugh

Bane would hate sidious for killing his master in his sleep that goes against the rule of 2 completely Plaguies had learned so much of the dark side and all that was lost because sidious took the mantle before his time.

Funny thing about eclipses. Even the longest eclipses are temporary and fleeting symbols of power.

This creates an interesting picture, where Sidious, who has effectively conquered the galaxy and turned it into an Empire, is seen as having entirely missed the point of the Rule of Two by Bane, and in fact is not as powerful as he believes. Bane believed that the Force was venom, not fire, and that the more who used it, the weaker it became. His Rule of Two was about personal advancement, where the Master and Apprentice build to be more powerful than the previous, but Sidious was not more powerful than Plagueis, he didn't take what Plagueis made and improve upon it, he intoxicated and slew his master as he slept. And his own apprentices weren't chosen because they could enhance his own work, but were means to an end for a different plan. Sidious didn't transform the vision of the Sith, he weakened it.

Palpatine/Sidious clearly viewed the Rule of Two (and any other Sith rules) the same way he viewed his various apprentices: something to be used when it suited him, and discarded once it served its purpose. It makes sense that a more principled Sith would view his actions with disgust. What good is ambition, after all, when you're already at the top? And what is the point of an apprentice who can never succeed you?

bane would totally hate sidious. this is more accurate then anything disney could think of.

Im a diehard Star Wars fan and like many have a tendency to dissect Star Wars material looking for cracks in the story, plot, characters, etc. But i gotta give credit where its due, these stories and the dialogue in these shorts are darn near flawless. The characters speak and act with mannerisms that are consistent with the source material. Thanks for posting.

That was incredible and Palpatine saying
"If The Sith are Shadows, Then I am The Eclipse that Blots out the light" sums up Palpatine so well and Bane basically telling Palpatine that he's on borrowed time. This is what I see as a True Tales of Sith story

Sidious never truly believed in The Rule Of Two. Both in Legends and new Disney canon, he'd keep an apprentice, but always had a backup or three to be there in case Vader actually grew back a pair and made a play for the throne. The Emperor's Hands agents, The Inquisitors, the whole dance Ventress/Duku/Maul did during Clone Wars, Hell, the last 40 minutes of Return is him saying Luke's going to kill and replace Vader, in front of BOTH of them. Layers upon layers of followers or potential followers ready to jump up and take out Vader while Palpatine sits on his throne and laughs.
