Mountaineer's Hut Roof Repair [Tutorial] | The Long Dark

Answers to FAQs: No, it doesn't make it warmer, it's purely cosmetic.

The non-expansion (potential) method is to kill a bear in exactly the right spot, then get on top of the bear and run to the roof. I don't know if it would actually work, but I'll update this description if I hear about anyone doing this successfully!

this is so stupid I love it. It was so fun watching you do it and getting to do some stupid tests of my own. It makes me giddy that this is the kind of stuff advanced players are up to just to find something to occupy ourselves with. Love it to bits.

Considering the fact that you can actually repair the roof now, I was really confused when I saw this was a 10 minute long video, only to realize it's upload date.

I love how dedicated and serious you are about such small and insignificant / silly thing.

I was that there thinking 'I'll click on that video, but I bet he used a mod I don't want to install'.
Then it pans over to the cooking skillet!!

Player: "Hey Moose I'm gonna kill you now"
Moose: "Darn. Well I guess if that's what you have to do to subsist. It's the law of nature"
Player: "Oh no, I just need your skin to patch a roof"
Moose: "Will it keep you warm?"
Player: "Nope! cosmetic purposes only. the colors match"
Moose:

I have always used Better Bases and prior to that the older Place anywhere to do this the fact that you found a way to get this working in Vanilla is pretty impressive !!

after all that work you deserve at least some kind of warmth bonus inside. Cool video. I have been playing this game for some time haven't even seen a travois. Must be behind on the update notes.

2 things
1: I'm not wasting large hides on this for cosmetic reasons
2: Over 1, 000 hours game time and deadass did not know there was a hole in that roof

I bet Raphael is sulking and pouting hardcore right now. Wonder if he'll take it out on his dev team again.

- Okay, so just to clarify, does this increase or improve the insulation/temperature of the interior, or is it purely for esthetics? Personally, if it only functions for esthetic value, I really think the Devs should add in something like this, ways to improve interior heat and insulation to some ramshackle buildings, such a small patch but so rewarding for gameplay value. You could take a busted shed that currently counts as outdoors and seal it up enough to make it much warmer inside and to also then count as an interior area.

Hm... I wonder if there are other applications for the collision like cannery shortcut or perhaps even new shortcuts...
