Would You Pay $2000+ for Apple's AR/VR Headset?

Apple hasn't come out with a new product category since the 2018 launch of the HomePod, and there hasn't been a new wearable since the 2015 debut of the Apple Watch. That's set to change in the not too distant future, as Apple's AR/VR headset is nearing completion and will likely see a launch in 2023.

Rumors about the first head worn Apple-branded AR/VR product have been trickling out for years now, so we thought it would be useful to provide a quick overview of what's coming, including the most recent realityOS information.

This kind of feels like the iPhone rumors in 2006. We were all expecting an iPod nano form factor with a slide down keyboard and Apple totally shocked us. Hope that's the case here too.

Yes but then again I’m an XR developer so my interest goes beyond basic consumer needs. We *really* need an alternative to the Meta Quest in the standalone market. 🙏🏽

Love VR but at this point I'm worried that by the time Apple releases an actual product there will be other devices with mature eco-systems and comparable features as those described at 10% of the price.

Not a gamer, so what would I even do with this thing? Does it cook meals for me, clean the house, drive my car? Don’t need it.

It would need some thorough creation tools

I wouldn't use it if Apple gave me $2000

For $3K I hope this has enough capability to replace my Mac. I look forward to transitioning to computing with effectively unlimited screen real estate and with overall ergonomics that are no longer impacted/limited by screen viewing angles and seating position.

Uh no. 2000 is so op. Now Apple glasses might be interesting. I’m much more interested in AR than VR.

Now would this be compatible with SteamVR? Or can hook up to a Windows gaming PC?

I wouldn’t pay $500 for it. Between a $1200 phone, $3500 laptop, and a $500 watch, this Is getting to be a little much, when I really just need a vr headset.

This is on par with an Apple TV (screen) which no one really wanted.

I think the apple vr/ar headset will have the same headband on airpods max and the eye cushions will have the same material as the ear cups on the airpods max

It better have an insane killer app for me to fork out this kind of amount for this.

I can't wait. I am excited to buy them as soon as they are available. The price will go down over time so more people can use them for a lower price after a year or two.

I'm more excited for the macOS development that this will bring.
Perhaps macOS will open up a bit to VR workflows.

$2000? Depends if I can do something really useful with it.

It’s ok for education I guess. But all this silly over the top digital stuff doesn’t interest me. We need to keep grounded & focus on what matters.

I will most likely buy it. Depends on the usefulness of the apps.
