Choosing the right tires for Overlanding can prove to be difficult with a minefield of information out there. We have chosen a 32" All terrain for the next expedition, replacing the current 33" Mud terrain's. Here is some of the reasons in this video.

I switched to A/Ts last year and I can attest they are much better for pavement and ride alot better too. M/Ts are good but I found for what we use our Montero for it wasn't really necessary. Florida has alot of sugar sand and the M/Ts were actually a liability because the benefit of handling mud has the opposite effect on sugar sand.

After going on a few trails with our Kenda Klever A/T2's I was very happy how they handled the various terrain even on mud.

Look forward to your trip!!

I went from a 31 stock to a 32 KO2s, I generally like the idea of staying close to stock for durability reasons. Much bigger and heavier tyres will put extra stress into suspension and drivetrain components that could cause problems eventually. So I'm all for staying safe :) overlanding and hardcore off roading are different things, oevrlanding doesn't need huge lifts and tyres.

Good video, and good info about 32's vs 33's. I run on 31's now and I could not make up my mind if going for 33's, now I'll go for 32's instead, thank you guys

Just keep in mind each brand of tire has a different size for 33inch tires as an example. BFG's for instance are way smaller in 33 than General Tires are

Good change. I run 32" too and that helps with rolling resistance a lot. As well with garing. With stock gearing for 31" switch to 33" in Molly case ended overstress in uphills

What are the flares for your guards from or off? Im looking to up tyre size but need extra width on guards for legal driving in Oz! Thanks guys and keep up the great videos

Nice one you two, and a good choice going A/T 👍 I've owned my Surf 18+ years and never felt the need to go to M/T. As you say, better on fuel, quieter and wear well. I used to have BFG, but now use Cooper ST Maxx and find them to be better than the BFG. I use 285/75/16 so 33"x11" which are perfect for the gearing.
Looking forward to the adventure, and cheers for sharing 🥃🥃

How much lift do you have? Do you only have cranked torsion bars or something more for more lift? Just trying to decide if these will fit nicely on my gen 1

The car looks more decent and well build, more of a sophisticated vehicle so to say
