Perfect Casual Watch Under $300 | Hamilton Khaki Mechanical Review H69419933

This is a review of the Hamilton Khaki Field Officer Mechanical watch. I’ve owned this little Hamilton watch for a little over five months now, and I find myself wearing it more than any other watch in my collection.

It’s a great little Swiss made field watch, and I’m excited to share my thoughts about it. If you’re thinking about buying this watch, this review should help. First of all, this watch has a few different names. I’ve seen it called the Khaki Mechanical, the Officer Mechanical, the Khaki Field watch and other variations of these names.

Since there are other versions of this watch, I’ll just tell you that the reference number is: H69419933 This version has a black dial and comes on a beige canvas strap. It sells for $425 if you buy it directly from Hamilton, but you can usually find it for $250-300 on Amazon and other online retailers.

Great choice. I had the 38mm now the 40mm mechanical. Love the bead blasted finish. One correction though, it doesn't have anti-reflective coating. Not a deal breaker though.

Great watch and Hamilton is so Iconic. The SEIKO 5 Field SNZG15 very similar at about $100, both are awesome.

Dude, you seriously love that watch. It's in nearly all of your videos since you got it. I think you should give it a name like Whiskers or Mr. Muffins.

I picked one up with the original strap, also a second strap that it was on. Changed it over and it was the right move. Strap is wicked! It’s great once it’s broken in, light and nicely padded. First time I’ve owned a mechanical, true mechanical without automatic winding. If you really want to feel in synch with your timepiece this would be the one. Fits great on my wrist, 8 1/4 inches, wears larger because of the lug length, and the nice size of the crown is perfect. I have a watch of similar proportions, a tissot couturier (pre-powermatic, I don’t like the gearing down of the beat to lengthen the power reserve) and it too has the same presence on the wrist. I didn’t think that I’d ever wear less than a 40 mm until I discovered these two watches. Great review! Keep it up!

I love my Hamilton Khaki mechanical. I wear it everyday. I took mine off the stock strap and put it on an Uncle Seiko black waffle strap. I know its not a Seiko but what doesn't look good on a waffle strap, especially a field watch.

That is a great watch...classic brand...38mm classic size and the hand wind is a good choice...that is a value prop watch...great advice for your viewership...you are right about the water resistance...more water resistance would increase the price...

Recently purchased one with the olive green dial with date function. I’ve really enjoyed wearing this and probably gets the most wrist time amongst my collection which includes Rolex, IWC, etc. this is the first manual wind watch I’ve owned and probably the best “value” watch out there. Highly recommend getting this.

What is the size of your wrist? the 48mm lug to lug seems still too big for you based on the shot at 4:15.

A nice feature of the watch is how the Second hand stops when you pull on the crown so you can synchronize the watch.

I'm not too concerned about the water resistance because I owned one and it's about 15 years old. I have been on several deployments. It never leaves my wrist and I go swimming with it all the time. I even swim with it in the ocean. Absolutely no problems whatsoever.

@The Modest Man I have an issue with your statement at 1:19. It is either beadblasted/sandblasted/satin OR brushed. Brushed and sandblasted are NOT the same thing. In this case, this watch has a sandblasted finished case. I checked online to see if you meant that they offered it in sandblasted and brushed versions, but it appears they only offer it in sandblasted finish. Some watches have some portions with different finishes. For example, the Hamilton Khaki King has a brushed case with polished bezel.

Great review, nice little watch, perfect size for people with small wrist. I don't like too much the strap, but it can easily be changed maybe with a inexpensive nato

Hello, is it possible to have picture of the lume ? Mine has lume on half of the second hand and it looks strange ? On new versions it's only the arrows.

I have this watch, I love it👍Like you say should be 100water resistance. Plus maybe better lume. Strap is not too all tastes but is super comfortable. Prices bit higher now also, but still love it.

I think the OEM strap is awesome...have to desire to swap to anything else on mine!

@The Modest Man great review as always, love the Hamilton field watches, planning to get the automatic one, thanks to your review.
Could you please do a review on Bauhaus Watches ? Eg. the Junkers and so many more. They look beautiful and seem to be quite popular.
Love the content :)

Nice review. I've had this one for a number of years. Agree with you about the WR (though had no probs) but can't possibly agree about the crown. This is after all a handwinding watch, so the crown size makes winding each day a real pleasure compared to most watches with their tiny, fiddly crowns such as the Seiko which would be a PITA. It was one of the features that attracted me to the Khaki mechanical and besides, it could be argued that the crown size is more historically accurate.

What bugs me most is the hand length. Another couple of mm on the hour and minute hands would have made a big difference to the overall look. Timekeeping however is excellent. So, close, but no cigar. For me, the Khaki automatic wins this particular battle even though I prefer a hand wind.

Nice! Dig the watch Brock! You're correct about hand wind watches being smaller than their automatic counterparts since they lack a rotor. IMO the canvas strap will look good once you break it in more, and get it more dirty as the unique stains and dirt give it more character to fit the "field watch" style. IIRC the crowns are large so adjusting the watch with gloves on was that much more easy.
