In this lesson, you will learn what an ion is in chemistry and physics. An ion is simply an atom that has either lost or gained an electron. This leaves behind an atom with either a positive or negative net charge, which we call an ion. Simply, a put, an ion is a charged atom. These ions can either attract or repel each other, which can lead to chemical bonds.

It's easy to understand it when the teacher's back isn't covering the board. So many teachers around the world think they're transparent. I love your videos by the way! I'm in no way a Chemist, I'm an Electrical Engineer, but I always love to look back at the basics of everything you teach. It's always good to go back to the basics!

This instructor is a great communicator! Besides explaining subject matter clearly and simply, he is great at heading off possible false conclusions .

You are the best math teacher on YouTube. There are some great math teachers and courses out there, but for me, you are by far the best. The way you explain concepts and walk your student through the process is astounding. You're a very gifted teacher. I will be taking math courses up to Linear Algebra (starting from PreCal, Cal I-III, and then Linear Algebra) to enter a data science/analytics or applied statistics graduate program in roughly three years. I purchased a monthly subscription to your website and have found your videos to be the best. Thank you very much for everything you do.

I understood. I have *zero* chemistry education and I understood.
I mostly watched because I want to understand 'ions' as a fondation for understanding weather pattern affects on behavior.
Thaks!
