Repairs begin on damaged Interstate 40

The Tennessee Department of Transportation announced that work has started on damaged portions of Interstate 40.

If TDOT works at the same pace they are on installing 3 lanes on I-65 from Nashville to KY state line, they should have the repairs on I-40 done in about 10-15 years. By the looks of the small crew on the video coverage i would say 10-15 years looks about right. ☹

The hurricane was a month ago and they’re just starting the repairs now? Someone needs to get voted out tomorrow!

Can we worry less about getting silt in the river and more about dumping big rocks in the and getting a major artery OPEN. Obviously the river don’t give a ……

They have a mountain of rock 60 feet away, yet they will haul it in from miles away. Engineering experts built the Hoover dam with materials from the demolition, stop wasting money and time and dynamite 🧨 the mountain beside it, use it for fill, build the road and get it opened up. Build the barrier/river retaining wall.

These floods will be occurring far more often this century. I don’t think civil engineers today are taking that design constraint into consideration yet…
