The forgotten German plane that inspired Soviet bombers

At the end of World War 2, the defeat of the Germans was inevitable. They decided to use their last option which was the Wunderwaffens. Revolutionary weapons like the first jet fighter, stealth planes, super tanks but also some crazy things. However, lacking of time and ressources, most of these projects could not be achieved, like the Junker EF-132. But, it might have been completed by the nation it was designed to defeat : the USSR. Nevertheless, it did not happen. But at last, some of its ideas were taken for other Soviet project like the M-4 Bison and the Tu-16.

This EF 132 is Ju 688 or Ju 690, Ju 688 is jet strategic bomber is faster and higher than Ta 400, But EF 132 could carrying 5, 000KG bomb and armament is six new MG 213 revolver cannon in remotely controlled dorsal, ventral and tail installations is awesome jet strategic bomber, And that range is not only 3, 500 km, EF 132 could added more fuel tanks in the fuselage and wings to more fuel capacity and fitted with underwing shackles to hold two or four 900L drop fuel tanks to increase long range to over 9000 KM.

"And then, in a sudden frost, the americans turned it into the B-47. And the soviets into the TU-16."

I like how you've picked up on these fringe designs that never quite got built. It's a tough job to find a spot among the aviation historians here on You Tube. But you seem to have found a part which has not been overly covered. I'm enjoying your coverage of those "might have been" projects.

Very interesting. 3:38 Entertainer Bob Hope in an interview told of his performance in USSR Moscow. The joke he said when translated that generated silence was something like - I wanted to talk with your rocket scientists but I can't speak German. :)

Great content. English tip: "lb." amd "lbs." are (stupid) abbreviations for "pound" and "pounds" and pronounced as such.

A lot of later aircraft designs on both sides (american and soviet) are based on the stolen german technology. Even the stealth designs are based on it. If someone wants to argue about the F-117 and it's particular design, well, the germans also had at the same time the project Lampiriadae. This project has been canceled after the american "allies" saw it. This is one of many other projects canceled by the american "allies" including the worlds first VTOL-jet. Not to mention that without "Operation Paperclip" were the soviets the fist ones on the moon. Without the german scientists were the american science only a joke today.

Interesting. The front cockpit almost resembles the early B52.

"5000 tons of bombs", eh? Get your facts straight.
