the first time I heard this song I was working at Starbucks and it came on the speakers. I asked my coworker what it was because it grabbed me right away. After that I had 3 other coworkers ask what it was when it came on shuffle. I’ve never experienced that with any other song before, I’m surprised your dad didn’t love it!!

I just started listening to Thundercat this month. His music can be quite addictive. You can hear the early 70s R&B, Funk (e.g. Brothers Johnson, Isley Brothers and Slave) influences in his music. However, his bass skills are insane!!! My favorite today is Innerstellar Love from his Grammy award winning album It is What It Is. It is absolutely amazing if you’re into fusion, jazz, funk and R&B! His songs tend to be short but you will get kind of hooked on his music.

Thundercat is one of the few truly original and creative artists of our time, not to mention being being a total master of his instrument

He’s such an amazing bassist that has such an appreciation for old school sounds and musicians. LOVE THUNDERCAT so much.

Got accepted to Uni with this playing in the background; song has some sentimental value and it’s a great listen

Thundercat is featured along with soul and funk legend, Bootsy Collins on Silk Sonic's (Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak) 'After Last Night'. He sings three-part harmony with Bruno and Anderson, and plays bass. You should react to the entire 'An Evening With Silk Sonic' album. Their style is 70's soul and funk with a modern twist.

I adore his music. I love all his collabs too. This song is so important to me. It’s definitely 70s funk with a contemporary spin.

fun fact: His first start was bassist for Suicidal Tendencies. The man is a savant.
I always listen to this song back to back with Footsteps in the Dark

The drum line (?) is the same as footsteps in the dark, an Isley Brothers song that’s widely sampled. You should check it out!

My favorite song by Thundercat is Fair Chance. The vocals, layering, and message of that one just pulls me in. Also, Thundercat, Ty Dolla $ign and Lil B is a combo I would've never thought of working together but it does so perfectly.

Kamasi Washington and Robert Glasper who are contemporary Jazz/Funk musicians and have had collaborations with both Thundercat and Kendrick Lamar are someone you should review on this channel. The closest artists in terms of sound and vibe though to Thundercat would be Anderson Paak and maybe Janelle Monae imo.

Y’all are really lovely. Thank you so much for sharing music together and leaving space to disagree or have different opinions about the pieces you listen to while still connecting, respecting each other, and enjoying each other’s company. Happy New Year, and please keep the awesome content coming!

One of my favorite things about this channel is discovering new songs and artists. I'm an aspiring bassist and had never heard of Thundercat. I will definitely be checking out more of his music :-)
