If a vehicle is selling for substantially less than a similar vehicle it should have raised red flags.
A simple per purchase inspection would have saved a lot of heart ache.

Going from a Sierra to a Nova... that's the real issue here *XD* .
(a prize cow for beans exchange if ever I saw one)

It’s also a bit rich how Quentin is slating the dodgy second hand market when he himself was guilty of doing the same thing when he was in court for clocking cars!

Shouldn't checking the VIN be the first you do when buying?

Yes but this Nova was first registered 29th April 1991. September 1990-on Novas should have the softer colour-coded facelift grille and rounded dash should it not? It's using all the parts from a G reg if it is. Has Dougie from the Once Driven Forever Smitten channel seen this yet? And what was wrong with the Sierra?

Battery light on, no fuel gauge. A test drive would have highlighted those issues, wouldn't it?

That’s just a damn shame. That Nova looks great if not for the skeletons in its closet. And those Nova headrests. Today’s chavs will never know what it was like when getting rear-ended really did result in whiplash. Nowadays whiplash is merely the preserve of scammers and drama queens who wouldn’t know whiplash if it broke their backs, their wives backs, their children’s backs, their dog’s backs and their cat’s backs.

I bought a car, was a Bentley in Tango orange with 10k miles, 1 careful owner, 13inch alloys, Cozzy spoiler, and had ..ord on the boot.
I chose to pay £30 to a company to verify it. They said it was a cut n shut, million miles and blue not orange.
But the owner said it was a stone chip repair hence the colour, and Bentley quite cheap
I bought it 🙄

These days though, a scrap nova restored with parts from another nova, does that make it a ringer Like this one?

Hang on... so HPI ends up out of pocket because she ignored their information about the colour? I suppose they got a free TV advert in exchange. I might be starting to lean towards the side of the dodgy car dealer if the buyer's mistake is going to be paid off anyway. He probably got stung taking it in unseen part-ex.

Remember, if an offer looks too good to be true... grab it quick before someone else gets in. I'm sure it'll be fine. That's the saying, right?

I've had situations like this and I remember chuckling at a Golf with a dodgy VIN plate and suspicious welds. I've never seen a dealer move so fast when he thought someone might actually buy it. 🤣
I'd be all over that Nova, trying to figure out what's so wrong that it's listed a grand under book price by someone that should know better.
