legit cried by the end of the series… mainly due to the fact that somewhere right now in this world, there is an alex. maybe it’s someone you sat next to in the bus, someone who served you at a restaurant, someone you know, or maybe it is you.

everything felt so real and you know it’s a good one if it lingers to you for long and it triggers anger in you. i do not relate nor have been in a situation like alex, but it made you not only sympathize with her, but also feel every single emotion she feels like you have been through it before. you begin to understand her decisions and how difficult it is to be surrounded by people who does not listen to you. you begin to realize that sometimes all you really need to save yourself is you.

it covered so many aspects that can be relatable to all such as relationships, family dynamics, substance abuse, dv cycle, dreams and ambitions, social status, and also corruption in the government.

truly a wonderful show, 💫

1:20 the way she slightly raised her eyebrows when she said “there isn’t one” as if she’s at the brink of crying is perfect acting for me. With that slight movement, it’s as if she’s saying “there isn’t one because I’m living it”. Brilliant!

You care about the characters and especially the mother/child bond. You feel you want to just reach out and help her with her situation. This is but a glimpse of what many single parents struggle with on a daily, repetitive basis.
I'm glad to see Netflix produce a series on this subject matter. This hidden struggle is all around us as we go about our comfortable lives. My mom went through this with 5 children. She left my father, she kept 2 jobs her whole life and never once took out her struggles on us. Looking back at my life growing up, this was the strongest person I have ever known, to this day.
I get all choked up just thinking about the life long sacrifices she made, to make sure we stayed a family. God bless you mom.
