This is an excellent limited series. it proves that making a few bad decisions doesn't mean its the end, hope is always there if you would just push on.

Mothers are a wonderful thing. Mine picked daffodils in the rain to be able to feed her four kids. Lucky to still have her at 92.

As a single mom with a one year old, who will also be starting a graduate program in the fall, this show spoke directly to my soul. I live with my cousin and her husband; they just informed me that they will be moving out without me in less than 3 months. I've decided to move into student family housing. I've been on three different forms of government assistance programs thus far (that I've worked really hard to get off of). My parents are just like hers. Father with a new family who helps minimally and bipolar mother who is homeless. My car was nearly totaled a year ago after a hit and run with my newborn in the car. Just the simple hijinks of single motherhood that no one knows about were broadcasted to the general public. For once, I felt completely understood and heard. Thank you to whoever wrote this series. I don't feel so bad about my situation for once.

The ending made me sob, I breathed a sigh of relief when she managed to get out of that trailer and out of that town. I know it’s a fictional character but her determination and love for her daughter is so inspiring to me

Moving. I hiked the “M” the same year the author did with her daughter. I have a 3 year old daughter now, and also a maid, working my way through a medical certification. My daughter even has that same mermaid. I have crawled out of a few emotionally abusive relationships myself. Cried every episode. The metaphor of how hard the climb will be, but how it will all be worth it, because it’s all for her 😭 😭
Never related more to a series.

Cried like a baby at this last scene 😓 Wasn’t so sure on the first episode if I’d like this but I’m so glad I kept going, fantastic story and acting.

My name is Alex. I was around two when I witnessed my father punch my mom square in the face, dropping her by the front door of our apartment. He told me to come with him. Instead, I gave my mom tissues and shook my head no of course. He left and never came back. My mom raised me by herself for the next 16 years, working as a maid, moving from town to town and struggled to even put spam and rice on the table. But she did it. I was raised with the love of two parents in one person. We just finished watching this show together before she leaves me to go back to her home country for good next month and this felt like a love letter to our lives together before we say goodbye.

Absolutely love this show. I hope they keep it as this one season I love the idea that we may not know the rest of her life from here but at least it’s safe to say that she will have a great one from now on no matter what.

This show is a perfect example of a show that leaves you reflecting on the ending but doesn’t need another season

I was raised by my single mom who struggled a lot like Alex. In a way, I was the Maddy of the story. I watched this show and I sobbed because I could see the pain and frustration but also how she tried to shelter her from everything. I am lucky to have experimented that kind of unconditional love. I'll be always grateful of my mom for all her sacrifices

I think this is an excellent series and recommend that everyone watch it. I've heard that people didn't like the many bad decisions that she made. The only thing I have to say to those people are; Who on this planet hasn't done that? I can almost guarantee you that EVERYONE has made stupid mistakes, things we've done that we would rather forget. However, the constant falls she takes and the raw strength she had to continue and move forward in her life is the most realistic thing about this series, and the most beautiful. Nobody is perfect and things could fall apart in a blink of an eye, but if we can just KEEP GOING, we can also find a way out of the dark.

Bravo, Netflix. I will be expecting more great things from you.

A completely new level of appreciation for Margaret Qualley as an actress. I only saw her in “Once Upon A Time in Hollywood”…where she made the most of a supporting role and was what I thought was a charming newcomer. I had no idea how good she actually is.

I watched this months ago. But it still stays with me. And the fact that this is a true story makes it have that much more weight. What a masterpiece of a series on Netflix. But also, what a masterpiece of triumph for Stephanie Land and all those that have a similar story to hers ❤.

Finally she s there, with her daughter, open road and opportunities. I have lots of compassion for those women around, especially at a maternity point. I had better luck but I got to know what gashl8ghting and emotional abuse means. Although got rid of it bf things get really serious

I think this was the best show I’ve possibly ever seen 😭 I lost my mum nearly 6 months ago - and she was my entire world. She was a single parent and whilst she wasn’t a victim of DV, a lot of the struggles and sacrifices Alex made resonates with the sacrifices my mum would always make to ensure me and my brother had the best life. This show perfectly depicts the power and the deep love of motherhood. It was so well done, I truly felt every moment in this series.

And that ending oh my goodness. What a JOURNEY she has been on, how well deserved and incredible must it feel to overcome such hurdles in life and be able to get to the top of that mountain
