It's finally here! The all-new MG4 has arrived in the UK, and we've already put it through its paces. Is the MG4 the real thing, despite its game-changing price?

To many casual observers, MG is one of the least expected companies to be at the forefront of the electric vehicle revolution. Its reincarnation as an electric vehicle company still surprises new purchasers, despite its reputation for leaky but distinctly British two-seater sports cars. But now, some two decades after being sold to Chinese owners, MG is outselling large brands like KODA and Land Rover, and has gone from being a rank outsider in the sector to being one of the hottest assets.

The MG4 is a five-seat hatchback manufactured in China under the name Mulan. Surprisingly, the style and some of the engineering is done in the United Kingdom.

Prices range from £25,995 for the 51kWh basic range model with up to 217 miles of WLTP capability to £31,495 for the Trophy with a larger 64kWh battery. Our test vehicle, a SE with a large battery, can go 281 kilometers on a single charge.
