How to Make Kava

Making kava isn't a hard thing to do. The way I do it might be slightly more complicated than it even needs to be, and my method is pretty simple as it is! I hope you enjoy the "Binging with Babish" theme -- he's one of my favorite YouTubers out there. Here's the recipe I use:

- Rounded 1/2 Cup of Medium Grind Kava Powder
- 2 Cups of Warm Water
- 2 Cups of Ice

1) Throw your kava into a strainer bag.
2) Shake out as much of the powder as you can from the bag
3) Add the warm water to the kava in the strainer bag in a bowl
4) Knead the kava in the water until you feel like you've removed most of the powder from the strainer bag. If it's oily, you've made a great purchase!
5) Add the ice to the liquid, stir it all up, and drink! I generally space kava out, drinking 4oz every 20 minutes.

This is completely different than I've seen anybody else make kava? What's the point exactly of shaking out the dust just to re add it later? Also no fats added? Everything says its fat soluable and you need to add some form of fat

Great video! Though there is a simpler more advanced way to enjoy kava. Experience Nano Kava, which is just coming to market in the US :). 1ml has as many kava lactones as a 6oz shell!

Do you add milk or fat in the kava or is that not necessary 🤔?

What type of filter bag are you using? Cheesecloth, nylon. What brand? Thank you!

That's a lot of powder, I've only been doing about 1/4 cup per 20oz. But I'm only on day 2 of it. I don't want to overdo it or get sick

So once you put the muslin bag away with the remaining root, you threw the rest of it out that was in the bag because its useless now, right?

Do you reccomend a specific kava powder? And is there anything out there, that works well that is sort of pre made or allows making this to be less time consuming?

Why can't you just mix kava and water together with a spoon and then drink it?

The kava powder I use says to mix with water, doesn’t say anything about straining it?

I had to watch this with no sound, so I apologize if this was explained in the video, but normally one would knead the bag for at least 10 minutes....you gave it like a 30 second squeeze...I would have to think this methods results in a very weak grog.
