Starting a new year! And you want to help your child be successful at school. Whether your child was a good student in the past or not, a new year can always bring about a change for the better.

Here are some tips to help your child have an awesomely successful year this year at school:
1. Sleep – glorious sleep! Not getting enough sleep can mimic the symptoms of ADHD. That’s right! Help your child get enough sleep.
2. Healthy and yummy snacks. You and I can’t concentrate well when we haven’t eating – same thing for your kid. But it’s more than that. If all you’ve eating is potatoes chips you’re not going to perform nearly as well as with a tuna sandwich and some cut up veggies.
3. Help your child get organized and into a good routine. Can’t compare someone’s study habits who’s got an organized space in their room as opposed to someone who’s got a huge mess.
4. Buy your kids some cool school supplies and clothing so they feel ‘cool’.
5. Make your home a fun place to hang out so your kids feel comfortable to bring friends home.
6. Encourage good study habits, give reminders for homework but don’t be too overbearing. Younger kids – homework done before x,y,z. Older kids – let them manage their own time.
7. Offer to help with schoolwork or to provide a tutor who your child will like.
8. Compliment hard work and achievement. “I am so impressed! That was a lot of work and you handled it like a pro!”

These are 8 tips that really work to help your child be successful at school.
