I absolutely understand the importance of specs, honestly, but ONLY to a degree. If you're only using outrageous specs to make a claim instead of making the actual experience more to the point & fluid, what's the point? That's the ultimate reason why I bought a Pixel & don't plan on parting with the series anytime soon.

What a great looking phone, minus the Camera Hump!
Though I wonder if we're not going to see a ton of videos in a few months moaning about that "coating" on the back wearing/coming off?
But, for me, the real deal breakers are, the lack of Headphone Jack, which makes the 4a look tempting, until you realize that neither have Face Unlock.
As someone who needs to use the phone a lot, on its back, for Music rehearsal reasons, it would start to become a real drag to have to keep lifting it up multiple times in each song, just to go over something, which I don't have to do with front, or even side mounted Fingerprint Sensors.
However, in spite of that, I'm a recent convert to rear mounted Sensors, but when coupled with Face Unlock, which I have on my present budget Samsung.
I can just tap the power button and lean over the phone and it opens.

I've had my pixel 5 for a couple months now and it works perfect for everything I need it to do. Just enough bells and whistles without being outrageous.

My favorite thing about my pixel 4 xl is the squeeze feature on it . Its so much faster then touching the phone. I also like the new design of the pixel 5 .

The only thing that is stopping me upgrading from the pixel 2 is the poor front facing speakers. Going to hold off until December when the 2 reaches three years old then have another think about it. One of the main selling points for me is the battery and size of the device.
