LIGHT SHORE JIGGING | WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE YOU BUY

When we first started doing this around 10 years ago, we didn't have much information about what to buy. what was right for us here, the rods we needed and where to buy these things. So almost everything was imported from Japan, it was time consuming and it was not cheap - hopefully this video will help a lot of people looking for this type of information and they would be able to start with better gear that we did. In this video, I talk about what to look for in a Light Shore Jigging rod (or LSJ), What reel to use and what lines to pick. Light shore jigging is an awesome way to fish and is very effective. You can catch a lot of types of fish and tune your gear and techniques for fish that swim in your area.

Personally go 30lb braided when using 20-40g jigs due to certain fish species that are nutories for spoiling you and rubbing your leader and some cases main line around rocks. Also the terrain is very rough around my area.

Could you measure the tip an butt diameter of your rods in reviews? That would help to understand the blanks better.

Sakura saltsniper 5-20 g medium 8ft
Do you think that can perform good as a shore jigging rod?

Hi, I love your how to videos! I am thinking to get into shore jigging. My question is how do you find the reel to balance your rod of choice? Does the reel weight matter?

For beginners going into shore jigging, is spinning the way to go or baitcaster?

Può essere buono anche un Twin power 4000 sw hg insieme alla crossride 5g 15/50 9’3? O è meglio la versione 4000 hg?

Hey Mate, excellent explanation.

I live in the Mediterranean and putting together a shore jig setup for amberjacks. I don't have any experience in this style of fishing so I could use your help.

As we don't have access to "fancy rods" here, I went for a Savage Gear SGS6 60-150 rod. This rod weighs 388 grams and has a line class of PE 2.5-5.0. (I picked this rod because many anglers get amberjacks with 60-80-100 grams of needle jigs in here.)

I would like to pair this with a 6000 Daiwa Saltist, SW Certate or the New Saltiga. These are around 375-425 grams of weight. Most anglers would match this rod with an 8000 reel but I have the feeling that it's an overkill in terms of the reel weight. Would you have any opinions on this?

My second question is related to reel speed for everybody's reference. So from your answers to other comments, I believe I would be totally fine with a 6000XH which retrieves 110cm per crank. The downside would be I can't make use of this reel when jigging from a boat effectively. Is this the case?

Thanks in Advance :)

Hola Again. I followed your advice about my 10g jig tackle got 9ft TripleCross 5-30g pairing stradic C3KXG FM and 0.8 Dangan 8x

About my light shore jigging 😅Tackle is Solpara 10ft 20-60g and about the reel i decide go for 5k Shimano XG i have two options for the same price Vanford 5KXG and Stradic SW 5KXG the second is 200gr heavier... Right now i use a chinese reel 4000xg with 340g of weight. Wich one is better option?
