Thank-you! I have worked really hard to help my son, who has ADHD, be flexible with the results of our local and the national elections. We have stressed the need to continue to be respectful, kind, and inclusive of everyone but especially of those with whom we may not see eye to eye. The election did not go as I would have liked but I have felt uncomfortable reading/watching the posts of my friends, who are therapists, doing exactly what you have described and questioning if a therapist can truly be objective and look beyond their own beliefs and convictions when helping a client/patient.

And thank you for being such a great resource for helping me navigate parenting a child with ADHD.

I’ll be open and say I’m disappointed in the results of this election and scared for the future of my ADHD child’s education. I don’t hate anyone that voted the other direction though. I live in West Virginia, which is deeply red. Most of the people I know who voted differently than me are good people who would give you the shirt off their backs. They want what’s best as well. We just have different opinions as to how to get there. My philosophy has always been and will always be to spread love and not hate. I appreciate this channel remaining neutral and not ostracizing anyone. We can all coexist ❤

“The treatment room is not the place for the clinician to get THEIR needs met.” So spot on. Sadly, many mental health professionals got into the profession (somewhat understandably) because of their own mental health struggles, and it can be difficult to find help in these areas when none of the professionals seem to have a solid head on their shoulders or their own lives ‘together’. Of course, no one’s perfect, but there are levels.
Thank you for being a level-headed and professional aide in this challenging area to so many of us struggling families, regardless of our political leanings.
