Inspired by true events, COMPLIANCE tells the chilling story of just how far one might go to obey a figure of authority. On a particularly busy day at a suburban Ohio fast food joint, high-strung manager Sandra (Ann Dowd (Garden State) receives a phone call from a police officer saying that an employee, a pretty young blonde named Becky (newcomer Dreama Walker) has stolen money from a customer. Convinced she's only doing what's right, Sandra commences the investigation, following step-by-step instructions from the officer at the other end of the line, no matter how invasive they become. As we watch, we ask ourselves two questions: "Why don't they just say no?" and the more troubling, "Am I certain I wouldn't do the same?"

The second feature from director Craig Zobel (the man behind the 2007 Sundance hit Great World of Sound), COMPLIANCE recounts this riveting nightmare in which the line between legality and reason is hauntingly blurred. Officially 10 years old!
This wasn’t playing at my local cinema or my mall cinema
So I had to drive to an exclusive theater for a special screening an hour away from my second home
Totally worth it, the Dryden theater was like a vintage museum full of classic cinema props and the screen was a decent size
The movie itself; truly disturbing in many respects considering this was a real incident
Sooner or later something goes off in your head saying no I’m not doing this
But Dreama Walker’s performance is sensational and the film pushes her to the limit of interrogation
I think 3 people got up out of their seats because it got so uncomfortable and walked out and never came back
But this was still an example of expert filmmaking on an uneasy subject of being compliant to a certain degree

This is true it's based on the fort Washington Kentucky McDonald's which was targeted by a guy who had been doing the strip search phone scams for over ten years. The employee got 200million but her life was ruined. McDonald's did not allow strip searches but because the supervisor thought it was a real police officer she complied. There's an interview on a talk show with the supervisor and she was grilled about her actions while being questioned about the incident and shown the CCTV footage of the employee she abused. Hearing the girl begging to be let go was horrible. In any incident like this you should ring the police back not comply and obey. Ask questions first because this guy is still on the loose.

For some reason I can't bring myself to watch this movie. I have no problem with gore and torture horror movies, but manipulation and sexual harassment and rape through coercion is such a close thing in a woman's reality that I really don't feel like watching it, makes me feel a bad taste in my mouth to know this actually happened

I got to see this at Sundance earlier this year! It's fantastically acted and well written, but it's also extremely uncomfortable and frustrating! I highly recommend it :)
