This is a perfect example of how law enforcement has brainwashed the masses.  (generally speaking)  We're so afraid of prosecution that we wind up throwing our common sense out of the window in order to be compliant.  At least that was the case in this movie.  I learned something from this movie.  Respect the law and other authority figures, but don't be a damn robot.  You have a brain too...use it!

Just finished watching this movie. I have never been more haunted by a film, and knowing that this actually happened makes it that much more terrifying. Authority and compliance to it is terrifying. This movie was giving me Stanford Prison Experiment vibes and shows just how much people conform to the roles that they are given. All in all, this is a phenomenal film that shows how much human nature is based off of conformity to authority.

They didn't once decide to call 911 to find out the truth. and y would a cop ask an ordinary person to strip search someone?

The criminal father of 5 did this over 70 times and it did always go further than a strip-search. He was caught and released; acquitted of all charges. His victims were young, vulnerable women. The youngest was only 14yrs.

What makes this kind of thing possible is parents who use the, "Because I said so!" response.  This does not teach children right and wrong.  It teaches them to be obedient to authority.  So when they grow up that's all they know.  To obey authority regardless of whether or not it makes sense.

One of the most stressful films you can watch. My psychology teacher recommended this and it's so thought provoking and fascinating to see how humans respond to an authoritive figure and the authoritarian personality Sandra and Van showed when placed in a position of power. Really interesting film, would recommend.

The fact that the incident depicted in this movie actually happened is just mind-blowing to me. 🤯 I also am amazed that everyone was so gullible to fall for the tactics during the scam, but I feel particularly bad for the poor girl who was subjected to so much humiliation and torment. 😔

This movie is total crap. Just watched it on Netflix and could not believe the stupidity behind everyone involved in this situation, and its production. You work at a corporate fast food restaurant, if the girl stole on the front counter look at the tape. It won't lie. Also, why would a cop ever allow a civilian to conduct a search? Why would a cop allow a male to search, or look over a female suspect? A female can request a female officer to conduct the search. Red flag much? Why didn't anyone ask for a lawyer, call the police or even just hang up on the guy. If this actually happened to people, I can't imagine the single digit IQs these idiots had. Always question authority when you have to question your morals after an order. This guy should stick to making prank phone calls in his basement and leave the movie making to the experts.

This movie is infuriating! How a adult could be so stupid! Police don’t handle that sort of thing over of the phone. That manager is beyond stupid to just go with all that BS. None of it made sense. He contradicted himself. He never said her name he described every late teen/younger adult worker at a fast food place and SHE suggested an employee. And he went with it. She did so many things no one with a brain would believe. This went on for a long time and the police never come. She never thought to call the local precinct to verify or just take her down there to figure it out? I would have flipped and been like nah send them here. Having someone with ZERO training or qualifications to strip search her? You can’t tell me there aren’t cameras. And the way he speaks is not professional. And why they did what he said instead of just saying yeah we did it. Like what?!? No. So much doesn’t make sense
