My PPO saved my life. After a TBI i was able to see a huge variety of doctors without the hassle of referrals or the tons of paperwork. N my experience, a PPO is worth the money because we cannot plan the “freak” major health events. Good luck and god bless

An important thing to remember is that all well visits for babies and kids and all annual physical exams (gyn and primary care) are covered under any plan that satisfies the affordable care act with no copays, regardless of the health plan. So if your family is healthy and going for scheduled well visits, those would be free whatever plan you choose.

I wish we had the choice of affordable insurance. If we were to have it the cost would be more than our monthly rent. Thank you for sharing. Sounds good

So, if you want to save money, go with HSA, If you visit the doctors 3x every 2 months, or your kids are active and might break a bone playing sports, go with PPO? Did i get that right?

$1, 000 or $3, 000 is a high deductible? In my state pretty much every “insurance plan” has a deductible of $6, 000 or $7, 000...

My company's HSA plan has a $3k family deductible and $9k out of pocket maximum. The PPO plan has a $2100 family deductible and $9900 out of pocket maximum and costs 3x as much per month... Why in the hell would I choose a PPO plan over an HSA in that case?

Dana, which one did you end up going with? I really want to make the leap to an HSA, but my husband and son have endocrinology appointments 3-4x/year and that scares him.

When did this b.s of high deductible come about? I feel it was way before ACA passed. But seriously, who in their right minds, thinks treating healthcare like we treat a car insurance deductible or home is a good idea..? The only way its beneficial is if you reach it in the first how often does that really happen??

Dana, wouldn't having a baby be considered a major life event that would allow you to make changes to your benefits, thereby you being able to switch from the HDHP to the PPO?
