A bait station is not a trap. And there is more to eliminating rats than setting a trap. You must pre-bait traps for weeks sometimes to catch the smarter ones. Or they will continue to evade traps and breed more babies. Electric traps work best for the smart ones.

I used glue traps (Catchmaster and Real Kill brands) placing them three deep near holes in garage door and a side door the rats had nibbled and were using to get out for water during the day. I have captured ten thus far (six tonight). The snap trap and bait rat "hotel" traps that I set have yet to capture a rat. The glue traps have been most effective for me. The main downside to glue traps is that you have to kill the rats once they get stuck so that they do not escape or die a slow painful death. I use a heavy 1" by 4" board for this purpose. It kills the rats instantly and so long as you do not apply too much pressure does not make a mess.

The rats here are too smart for the number one choice! you’re basic rat trap… Mine get set off and then half the bait is gone! I don’t know how they do it but they do! I think they’re smart enough to know that if they set the trap off some of the bait will come off with it and then they can eat all they want!

This is a terrible review. The wooden rat traps are seriously difficult to set, the metal cages do not work at ALL, glue strips are a joke for big rats. The best rat traps are the easy set the wooden one and the electrons trap do not work as well but will catch the smarter more difficult traps.
