You can insert drop-down lists in cells in Google Sheets. It’s part of the Data Validation feature, where you establish rules for the type and values of data you can enter. It’s similar to the same feature in Excel. In this episode, we create drop-downs and look at other data validation options. We also create custom rules using the ISBETWEEN, AND, LEN, ISTEXT, and MOD functions.

The dropdown used to allow you to delete the choice, which leaves the cell empty. It doesn't do that anymore??

In Google Sheets, the help text really doesn't get in the way. It only shows if the entry is invalid and could show the user what criteria needs to be met for the entry to be valid.
