The 1060, 1070 and 1080 cards are great arguments for why you should never just go for the "cheapest" GPU but instead get at least a mid-tier one. You can't future proof forever, but people that got a 1060 back in the day can still game at reasonable framerates in most situations now.

I believe none of you mentioned this especifically at the end but the difference between the 3gb and the 6gb is beyond the vram, the 3gb has less cores, a 3gb would be like a RX 570 and the 6gb would be like a RX 580.

Just picked one of these up for my secondary living room PC for $120 bucks. Can't beat the price to performance ratio, and also helps that it's a SFF card, so it will fit in the very small console-esque ITX case I have for it. It's a great option.

Still have my short 6 GB GTX 1060 GPU. It’s the only thing still working after my MB and PSU died in May 2024. Still salvaged the old DDR4 RAM sticks. Got it all back in Feb 2018.

i bought a 1060 6b Zotact blower card for 100$. Cleaned, Repaste (Thermal Grizzly) and Overclocked it. It should be good until the 4000 series release.

got my 1060 for around $100 back in 2019 and it still kicks ass. personally i dont play AAA games anymore nothing really looks worth it anymore. i still enjoy minecraft from time to time. a ultra modded fallout 4 and skyrim. however current game is rust (if u dont know what rust is good stay away that game is digital crack) all round 1060 6g is a very solid choice for a pc if u get it for around 120 to 100 dollars
