Why Chris Hogan Got Fired | Chris leaves Dave Ramsey| My thoughts, Ramsey Culture, Debt Free life

If your in the debt free sphere you've probably have heard by now that Ramsey solutions personality Chris Hogan was terminated due to "choices made in [his] personal life." The news surrounding seems to be that Chris Hogan had made some mistakes surrounding his marriage that have reflected poorly on him and thus the Ramsey Solutions company made a decision to terminate their relationship.

It is impossible to know for sure why he got fired. Based on the information out it would seem odd that he would be terminated 3 years later for his marital issues. More interesting than that is we are beginning to learn the work culture of the Ramsey Solutions company. It seems that certain choices of a personal life are highly frowned upon and are in their companies eyes, fireable offenses. Including but not limited to premarital relations and living with a partner without being married.

It seems quite odd a company would take such a stance, however I have learned that the Ramsey Solutions company takes a strict orthodox Christian religious stance both in company practices and in their personal lives. So it seems if you don't follow the Christian example perfectly then you will be fired. Now I take issue with this because well... none of us follow the faith perfectly. If we did, we probably wouldn't need faith at all.

I also see a relationship with a hire power as a personal affair, not something to be forced or regulated by your employer. The reality is however, the Ramsey solutions company is privately owned by Dave Ramsey and he can run it how he pleases. Its just mighty odd to me, as a Christian, to banish people for being imperfect. That is my two sense. I am imperfect and I see all others as the same. Why do we pretend to be?

Apparently Dave tried to meet him with Grace but he had "MULTIPLE" affairs and one of them was with a co-worker so that is pretty straightforward for any company.

The key word in all you’ve said is “Private company”. I’m certain that his employees knew the standards/policies of the Ramsey Company, and agreed to them when they agreed to work there. I’m very glad that grace and mercy abounds, but we can’t fault Ramsey for how he chooses to run his company. Just as I wouldn’t apply for a job with any company that had requirements that I didn’t meet etc, I wouldn’t want to work for the Ramsey Company. However, I respect his right to determine the kind of culture he desires within the company he owns. Just my thoughts.

I try to remember this statement everyday. I hope things work out for him. Would like to see him back in the finance world publicly but if he is with professional athletes behind the scenes and his happy, more power to him.

Do we know for sure that these other fired employees weren’t given a “redemption” plan like the one Chris was supposed to be on since 2018? I think we need to be careful comparing the different situations without knowing the full details.

He got fired because there is a lawsuit in the pipeline. Hogan was in a restoration program since 2018. Further more Christian companies have guidelines that you have to adhere to. You know what the consequences are if you don’t. I’ve applied to Christian companies and I was fully aware of the rules.

If these employees know what they are getting into when they get hired there then they should understand the consequences of their actions

I was very sad to hear about his departure since he is my favorite host. I heard he was let go because he had a relationship with an employee. I can see why this would be a terminable offense since an in office relationship could cause legal issues for the organization. I hope he comes back independently though because he always has great advice.

If you do drugs on your off-time, it can affect your work or the integrity/reputation of the workplace/brand. Personal morality is something that should be considered because it is an indication of your work habits. If you own a company and want to employ only people with ethics or morals that you share, that's your business as the employer. You want the best working for your company and it's your choice who you have representing you.

I'm an Orthodox Christian and even I think what Dave's company did was too extreme. I understand that his company is private but I feel they went too far and were too intrusive. After I heard this story myself I Unsubbed from his channel and when Chris Hogan left the company that was just the last straw for me.

Dave Ramsey is why I believe religion and the workplace don't mix well should never mix at all.

It's definitely a complicated situation. On one side the employees sign a statement that they will abide by these things. Therefore the company has the right to terminate, but not pick and choose who they enforce the policies with.
On the other hand, there is a reason our country was established with a separation of church and state.

Owning a successful enterprise and being wise with the management thereof is what was going on with Dave and Chris. These are two men I have great respect for their exercising of their God given talents.
