The Heritage Foundation is partnering with the Observer Research Foundation (ORF) to host a two-day event discussing the future of Indo-U.S. relations.

By 2030, India and the US will rank amongst the largest democratic economies in the world—a development that will further elevate the importance of this relationship for international peace and stability. India and the US already share a preference for a free, open and liberal international system — values that underpin cooperation on a wide range of issues—ranging from Indo-Pacific security to counter-terrorism and defense collaboration. Nevertheless, the two countries also confront differences on trade, technology, and India’s extant energy and security relationships that must be resolved. “India on the Hill” will attempt to support this rapidly maturing bilateral partnership by untangling existing differences and advancing shared strategic interests.

India on the Hill will feature participation and keynote addresses from Members of India’s Parliament, Members of the U.S. Congress, and key Indian and American leaders from government, industry, and academia to formulate a roadmap for joint leadership of the international order in the 21st century.

People of India will be happy to have better relations with Usa, as it's the best country/civilization at present on earth and we all would like to emulate it's achievements.

BUT, we need to talk truthfully to each other.Countries' relations are based on realpolitik and not "values", for eg US had no problems with having good relation with "Communist China" all these 50 years and continues supporting authoritarian regimes and Kingdoms in Middle East.

1.Why does a democratic India and a democratic USA find it difficult to have good relations?
2.Why is it that India finds it easier to have relations with others than USA.For example Modi tried having good relations with US above Russia for 3 years and had to go back to hugging Russian President Putin in later years?

3.Why is it that US continues to prop up militarily and politically Pakistan?
We need to have frank discussion on all these and go from there where to take the relation.
Or we can continue with this charade of Values and Democracy and lament that India and US relations are not working to its potential level .

Supporting the west Pakistan in Bangladesh liberation war in 1947

Supporting Pakistan to form a ultra-religious terrorist force to liberate afganistan from soviets.
What do you think happened to those fighters when soviets left ? Only the administration remained in afganistan

The rest all came to jammu & Kashmir established Shari law, displaced other non-Muslims and gave us a pretty hard time. Meanwhile you guys looked the other way.

And the reason why you are looking for friendship is based on a common enemy and not based on long term mutual benifits.
