Mercury 9.9hp Speed Test with Saturn BB290

I have to say that this motor is a beast. It wants to get to speed in an instant and I have to control the throttle in so it won't spit me out of the boat lol. Hope you guys enjoy this video. I also noticed that the propeller was old and busted so I only got about 13-14 mph. Once I replaced the prop it got up to speed 18mph. #youtubeislife #subscriber #youtubeguru #youtubecontent #newvideo #subscribers #youtubevideo #youtub #youtuber and #youtubevideos

Nice. Just measured my 2016 9.9 merc. Got up to 35km/h. That’s about 21mph. On a 10’ rib with one adult and one kid. Hoping to do some tube towing on the lake. Thanks for the vid! Great name btw.

Eric, a great video, as always. Just for you to know, mercury motors are made by tohatsu. Basically they are exactly she same motor. Tohatsu made motors for Nissan marine and. Mercury until 20 hp. So, if this motor needs to warm up some time, is the same way with tohatsu.

Hi Eric, could you do comparsion of fuel consumption between 6hp and 9.9hp ? Maybe do the same trip with both engines and check fuel level.

So there is not a big difference in speed compared to the 6hp? Coz the price difference is huge . Am thinking of getting a 6hp

GPS'd 26.8mph on a west marine 9' inflatable (inflatable keel/ wood floor) with a poorly tuned 2strk 9.9 yesterday in choppy Alaska waters (Resurrection Bay). I'm 200lbs with my warm clothes/rain gear, 6g tank, anchor, cooler full of ice and fishing gear. You have a nice setup but it seems it should go a lot faster???

Hi Eric. Really enjoy your videos! With your experience with different motors on inflatables do you think the 9.9 hp would be enough to plane 3 adults and 2 dogs on an 11 ft inflatable? I’m thinking total weight would be around 600 pounds not including the inflatable which is about 100 pounds. I’m having a hard time figuring out how much horsepower I need. Thanks

Hey Eric ..i don't understand, my boat is 10.5 with 6hp and aluminum floor with 2 people i can go 14mph... You should go more than 20 mph By yourself with 9.9 motor???

Nice video again Erick! I came across this video trying to get an indication of the top speed that a 4meter 200lbs DSB inflatable ex-army boat + 140lbs passenger would achieve, with a 8hp yamaha (85lbs approx). What top speed do you think this boat wil achieve? As far as it being underpowered, there is some intention to that. In the Netherlands the speed limit (for not requiring a license) is 20km/hr (12.4mph), i do not want to exceed this, but I want to be as close as possible to it ofcourse. Kind of a optimization issue. Looking forward to your view on this. Kind regards.

Tohatsu 9.8 2 stroke on 3.2 m inflatable. Just over 20 mph and it only weighs 27 kg. Best bang for your buck.😁😁

I thought the 6hp will do 16 ? The 10 hp should do 22

You 6HP outboard done 17 miles per hour that means it's quicker than your 10

I have the same boat, but 4hp, I want to upgrade it to 8 or 9.9 HP, my questions is, how effort it take, to lift it from your car and put in the boat? Are you able to do it alone?
