Happy first day of Fall! We're already seeing cases of the flu - have you had your flu shot yet? Our hospital president is leading by example for employees - being the first one to get vaccinated. Way to go, Steven! #preventingflustartswithyou

You are not require to wear gloves according to the CDC guidelines. If the vaccine is administered correctly, there should be little, if any, bodily fluid exposure you should come in contact with. I however still wear gloves at all times when administering any injection.

I need a straight answer. Why do some nurses violently jam injections into you so hard they almost hit bone? Is doing it the gentle and slow way just inefficient and if so, why?

In my native Britain, I am not currently eligible for a flu vaccination. In Britain, the flu vaccination is offered on the NHS to over-65s and those with certain medical conditions (because the flu can sometimes escalate into pneumonia in those people), NHS and social care employees (because their jobs involve working with old people) and children in primary school. For the latter group, it is often administered as a nasal spray rather than as a jab (in British English, an injection is commonly referred to colloquially as a jab, similar to how the term "shot" is used in American English).

Technically I could get a flu jab before the age of 65, but I'd have to go to a private clinic and I'd have to pay for it.

But even so, I've never actually had the flu!

shots to me don’t really hurt just a pinch but it’s just thinking about the needle going in

Is it okay to pinch the skin together as seen in the video? I thought the skin was supposed to be held taut for IM injections and only pinched for subQ injections, but im no expert

The PCR test could not distinguish between flu and covid, so that may account for the dramatic drop in flu cases.

How do you have a public health video where your nurse doesn’t demonstrate cleaning the injection site and doesn’t wear gloves?!?

Imagine going to school to learn about health and becoming a nurse but then being obese.

I am getting a flu shot tomorrow. I have never had one and scared. I have heard it makes you sick, and also heard you can have a reaction to it and die....anyone know if that is true?

Could the nurse accidentally reuse a needle while giving the flu shot?

Needles do not scare me what so ever. It is the ingredients that they put in it that scares me.

That is so wrong. Where is the gloves on the nurse. She just touched it with her bare hands.

This comment was made 50 minutes before my vaccine, I will reply to this comment after I’m done. My estimation is it will sting and ache, but it won’t be that bad after it’s done, hello me from the future! 😄
