In software engineering, there’s a concept of “graceful degradation” meaning - given failures on higher systems, the lower ones still function. In a game context, graphical fidelity would be high level while mechanics and input would be lower. You build things out bottom up. It feels like many bad AAA games just focus all their energy on graphical fidelity (high) and do what they can otherwise (low). I just find many new AAA games uninspired and boring.

Pirate software and his guest lawyer covered the nintendo lawsuit extremely well. This isnt about destroying pocketpair, its about setting a precedent, hence why there is so much incentive (financial), to just settle.

I can't wrap my head around the PS5 Pro price. The PS4 Pro was an immediately noticeable graphical upgrade from the standard PS4, and a lot of stores (including GameStop) had serious trade in incentive programs. $700+ for a console that looks a little bit better some of the time is just absurd.

I think another reason why sonic team is considering a sonic 06 remake is because they saw project 06 and either just want to get in on the action, or because they saw the potential of what could have been be realized and want to try again

If they give in to Nintendo's extortion, it just means that it will encourage them to do other illegal patent filings like this and use it against other devs. This is a test case. nintendo really trying to patent something so broad it technically covers horseriding, throwing a net to catch a dude in a spec ops game, or *looks closer* having an npc follow you? like companions in say fallout or skyrim or something. Listen I get trying to protect IP but there is a difference between patenting a specific method for a device to peel potatoes, and then there is patenting the concept of a device that peels potatoes. this feels too broad and should never have been granted.
