Just a recap:
-He was originally with Asami.
-He then cheated on her with Korra due to seeing Korra with Bolin.
-He broke up with Asami, who found out about him kissing Korra.
-He dated Korra until he betrayed her trust. Then broke up with her.
-He started getting back with Asami soon after and kissed Asami.
-He then cheated on Asami after Korra returned (with Amnesia) before breaking up with Korra (again).

I know there's a lot I missed out due to plot, but a lot of this was due to his own indecisiveness and loyalty.
