No matter what the Overseer was doomed the moment he kick out the Hero away... In the canon ending when the people of the vault later learned what the Overseer had done to the Hero they put the overseer on trial for his decision, ultimately sentencing him to death.

There's an alternate version where the vault dweller doesnt kill him but when the Overseer goes back inside and tells the resident what he did they kill him and leave the vault, starting a ouple settlements and a few raider gangs

I still have a Fallout 3 save file where the Enclave took out Amata. I spent a lengthy amount of time dragging her corpse to Tenpenny Tower and placing her in a precise position for the NPC's, and I target practice.

Even though the main character is capable of eradicating the overseer, I would’ve listened to him and left… while dragging him by his hair with me on my travels. If the overseer can’t live through what the main character had to in order to save Vault 13, then he was never meant to lead the vault from the start. Trial by fiery trail.

The irony of the situation is that by killing the Overseer, the vault Dweller prooves his point, that he is no longer suited to live down there due to being too... changed.

Some people just don't know how to talk to someone who levelled up massively fighting in a nightmarish wasteland, came home with way more firepower than anyone else in the vault, and just wanted some thanks for saving everyone's life.

You do realize the vault kills the overseer for that as well.
