youtube needs to rework this system. It punishes basically everyone that doesn't upload the same sort of trash.

I am both a member of YouTube Premium AND a descendant of a victim of the Eastland Disaster. I was so touched that you put so much into this documentary. And, I am severely disappointed in YouTube for continuing to "punish" some of my favorite creators who share true stories about real people.

It absolutely baffles me that YouTube is perfectly OK with 5 minute crafts and similar channels pumping out deadly life hacks but then tells you that your documentary is dangerous to people 🤦‍♂️

Your videos helped me process the grief of losing my mom, educated me on the history of the industry of death, and entertained me all at the same time. Needless to say, where you lead I will follow. ❤️

YouTube, no one has EVER FORCED me to watch a video on here. News flash, nobody gets out of here alive. The serious subject of death has been handled in a respectful way. Often presented to us in a delightful way. Thank you to the team.

Ugh. I empathise so completely. Recently sank hundreds of man-hours into a costume making video just for it to get obliterated over "disturbing imagery" with no further explanation. Saw the Eastland video when it first dropped and it was great, thank you for making it all the same!

It never ceases to amaze me how ungrateful YouTube is to its creators and leaves these impactful decisions to... some rando or even worse, some algorithm.

YouTube did a similar thing to How to Cook That and Anne Rearden. She posted a video warning people of how dangerous fractle wood burning was. Her video was number 1 result over several popular others. She got hit with the same. Saying it was promoting dangerous activities or something. While the others showing how to do it remained. She felt so passionate about it she re-uploaded with an intro explaining all this and risking getting hit again. Also enough people did make a stink and it sort of was resolved.
Keep up the amazing content. And don't give up trying to get in touch with YouTube.

My husband and I watch all of your content. We viewed the Eastland documentary and were amazed that such a terrible tragedy had been largely ignored. We feel that nothing you showed was too graphic or in poor taste. We are only too grateful that you honored the Eastland victims and their families by telling their heartbreaking stories.

YouTube has been broken for so long and literally everyone has been telling them to fix it, but they never listen

Putting all my efforts into getting your video back into the algorithm. Love your educational content and will continue to support wherever you post!

I don't know how many times I have recommended "this awesome youtuber who talks about death and about so many forgotten events", too many to count probably.
This video was respectful, educative, thorough and complete.
Seriously, I see gore shit daily on YouTube, people throwing kittens to snakes so they can pretend they save them. Ugly, derogatory stuff with no intent whatsoever.
Keep going, we'll be right there, well, I sure will be.

I'm french and without your video, I would never have heard of this historical event. This is 100% an educational video, I'm sure I'm not the only one who learned so much thanks to your work and research.

A similar thing happened to Ann Reardon with her video talking about the dangers of fractal wood burning. She fought back for a human to review the video and eventually got it reinstated. We're all rooting for you, Caitlin. Your channel is one of the most educational channels out here.

The Eastland Disaster video is a PBS quality documentary. It's introduces to the viewer a tragedy that most have never heard of but does so in a manner respectful to the victims and their families with out being sensational or exploitive. We need more of this high quality film making. Please don't be discouraged. We truly appreciate your hard work.

I watched the SS Eastland video. It is a touching tribute to those who died and the heroes. I recently subscribed to your channel and I have learnt so much. Thank you for all your hard work. Your channel is unrivalled. Respect.

Since WHEN is “Ask a Mortician” [Caitlin] NOT educational? This is one of the few channels I genuinely crave since I’m constantly learning about topics outside my normal scope, it’s absolutely fascinating and everything Caitlin and company do is top shelf!! The Eastland episode is something i would not hesitate to show to an ~10/yo child, it’s that GOOD! Hang in there Caitlin 💪🏽🖤⚰️🎥

I’m really confused as to how YouTube couldn’t think your videos are educational. I’m in college and took an archeology of death class, where we literally watched some of your videos and had assignments to read parts of your book. My forensic archeology professor loves you!

Caitlyn your videos have helped me during a very hard time in my life. I discovered your channel, when I found out my dad was going to die of terminal cancer. I was traumatized, scared, I didn't know what to do, my family didn't want me asking questions. Your videos helped me understand, what was going on and helped me, in a way I don't think you realized. The hospice center was trying to force my dad to agree to use their funeral home and have a funeral - something he didn't want and there was words like: "Think of your daughter" which horrified me, because as his only daughter, I didn't want to see my dad like that. I did research and we found a better funeral home that fit our budget better and unfortunately... My Dad died in my arms in a very traumatic way in the last hours of his life. It messed me up for the longest time and still haunts me and looms over me. Your videos were a comfort during a time where I would be up all night fighting flashbacks of his dead body, I have PTSD from his death and I had relatives outright say shit to my face like:

"It should've been you."

"You're Dad was stronger than you, he could've handled your death better."

"Why are you still alive?"

I was told over and over again by people who were supposed to love me, that they wished I had died instead... and so, I internalized it. Your videos helped me realize, there was nothing wrong in how things happened. There was nothing wrong in me advocating for my dad in his last moments. There was nothing wrong with not having a funeral and there was absolutely nothing wrong in having a mental breakdown upon losing him and having to say goodbye. I lost my godfather a year later, a blow that hit me just as hard but this time, I knew it wasn't my fault... and I was able to be there for my mother instead of the other way around.

Thank you, for opening discussions about something we all face one day... and thank you, for helping me slowly come to terms with the fact that, it wasn't my fault. That, my being dead wouldn't have been any better.
