During our Trans-Siberian Train trip, we stopped in Yekaterinburg for a day and we really enjoyed walking on the red line! The city has a lot of impressive architecture and a pretty river that runs through the city. We had a great time exploring the parks, shopping streets, and restaurants.

If you have a chance to visit Yekaterinburg, don't skip over this city! It has a lot to offer and although we only had a short time to explore, we really liked the local vibe and atmosphere.

You appeared to have enjoyed your visit to Yekaterinburg. Visit the city again during late December through late January. The borscht is best then!

3:03 Radio inventor Alexander Popov. Popov demonstrated the wireless transmission of signals intelligible for perception in March 1886 and did the same a few months before Marconi, however, in the absence of the public and specialists. What conclusion can be drawn from this? In principle, the fact that someone else, without knowing it, at the same time invented the same thing in another place, does not detract from the creative achievement of the inventor. Therefore, the achievement of Popov deserves absolute recognition. The statement about Popov’s priority is based on the fact that Popov demonstrated the radio receiver he invented at a meeting of the Physical Department of the Russian Physicochemical Society on April 25 (May 7), 1895, while Marconi filed an application for the invention on June 2, 1896.
7:33 where is the glass of iced vodka? Dumplings are present and 50 grams of vodka are missing. Not an order. ))))

Between Yekaterinburg and Irkutsk there are a lot of worthy cities, including the third largest city in Russia after Moscow and St. Petersburg - Novosibirsk, also Perm, Chelyabinsk, Omsk, Kemerovo and others. And between Moscow and Ekaterinburg is a beautiful and important ancient cities even with ancient Kremlins (fortresses): Ryazan, Nizhny Novgorod, also Samara, including Kazan (Republic of Tatarstan) also with the Kremlin, Tobolsk with the Kremlin, Saransk (Republic of Mordovia), etc. But to get into them you need to look at what kind of railway line you are going. But it reboot more time and money, of course.

I hope you learned that the city of Yekaterinburg is named after the Empress Catherine I (First). Catherine the First should not be confused with the more famous Catherine II the Great.

The monument is in memory of physicist Alexander Popov.
who invented the Radio frecuency among many other inventions. It says right there. All you should've had to do is learn the russian Alphabet. It takes you maybe one hour to learn the 31 letters in the Cyrillic alphabet and you have half the Russian language in your pocket.
Its very easy. I did it and I speak spanish. I am learning Russian on my own with Youtube videos. Its a lot of fun and very easy. Im planing to go to St. Petersburg some day before I die. I am 75 now and not well. I hope next year will be better. I need companion to travel. That is a big problem when you are retired.
Well, "Udachi" and have a great vacation.

Local Burgers is not exactly what you would expect in US, - far more flavor and lots of experimental tastes. Of course if we talk about Russian burger cafes and not your usual Burger King or KFC, this tastes like paper in comparison.

Pan-Asian food are trendy nowadays, with lots of actual Asians adopting Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai food to Russia taste and Russian chefs experimenting with Asian flavors, so you made a big mistake by skipping this and looking for a typical pelmeni, especially when there's experimental pelmeni house, called Zames, and pelmeni restaurant collecting all possible historical recipes along the Red line next to the Opera Theater.

In addition there's a lot of food from former USSR republics, like Georgian, Armenian, or more exotic for you, Uzbek, I don't think you have this in US and should had tried it, too. And while you can try all of this in respected countries, you won't find Russian Koreans food anywhere else besides Russia. There's no particular dedicated Korean restaurant in Yekaterinburg, but you may find Russian Korean salads in every big supermarket around Russia, not only in Yekaterinburg. The closer you to Vladivostok and Sakhalin island, the more chances you may find even rarer Sakhalin Korean food. Interestingly enough, this "Russian" insta noodles you were eating in a train in the last video were actually South Korean.

Also a lot of what may look like "European restaurant" are actually authors food adaptations, with some dishes available to this restaurants only. So in a sort, it's Russian exclusive, too, and you shouldn't were skipping this, before reading a menu.

Just don't restrict yourself to traditional Russian food. Russian food is far more than traditions or just ethnic Russians. It's even more than what may sound familiar to you.

Why there are so many old buses in Yekaterinburg....even in my poor Chuvashia - launched government programm to replace most of old buses by modern ones....I thought that Yekat is rich city....bbbbut. Hope that were the only buses that still exist..

Ah, that's so cute how you're struggling to pronounce all these mind-breaking names! Even locals shorten them to Yekat or EKB (ye-kah-beh) and Dendropark or just Dendrik. There are much more to see in the city, worth to stay 2-3 days. Anyway, best wishes to you, enjoy your trip and discovering "deep" Russia. 😘
