I would like to clarify two things.

1. Everything in this video are not things that I hate but more like improvements that VW can make in there next gen golf gti. The I HATE trend is mainly in the car community to tell people what they don’t like about it and what certain car companies need to inprove upon.

2. I am getting a lot of comments saying I shouldn’t hate about somthing my parents bought me. I bought a big majority of this car. And since not everything is perfect even cars I thought I would touch upon those.

Well front wheel or rear wheel drives they are always torque steer or wheel spin..i had a 2018 mustang gt v8 10speed rear wheel drive but torque steer as well scary sometimes..the only way to avoid wheel spin or torque steer is all where drive..but a little bit heavy because of all wheel drive. But gti is fun to drive a lot of power if tune them its different beast.

Kudos to you for making a case for a GTI all-wheel drive though VW is unlikely to consider it in my opinion. It would overlap with the Golf R which has all-wheel drive + 315 HP engine. Agree totally on the understeer...experience it often in my mk. 7.5 GTI.

Congrats on your new car and congrats on all the hard work you put in to buying the car for yourself. Don't listen to the negative comments that say nasty things like, "you shouldn't bash a car that mom and dad bought for you." - that's not cool, they aren't cool for saying that. Just because you are younger shouldn't take away from your opinions, and just because you are younger doesn't mean you got where you are because of your parents.

The new MK8 is a wonderful 'first' car. FWD will keep you from getting in too much trouble as well. If you ever love the hatchback and need AWD you could always get an R in the future. Also, Its awesome you were able to mostly afford the car without any help.

I have to think that the price point for your car is a big reason for the option deletes that you see.
The GTI has always been a "bang for the buck" kind of car where you get amazing performance and build quality for the price. Your car is amazing, and well spec'd for the price (ok, maybe power passenger seat would be nice lol).

Nice video. I just wanted to add that even in the 45k Golf R they do not have powered passenger seats. It does have a heads-up display though.

2022 GTI review

The 2018 GTI (MK7.5) was capable and fun to drive, but it missed that true “SMILE” factor. A car, that no matter the distance from A to B, put a big F-ing smile on your face every time. Who gave a shit a about the destination, the journey was what you remembered… just a whole lot of fun. When I first saw the 2022 GTI, I was skeptical… very modern looking and no buttons. I considered the Veloster N, but it was 10k more than the GTI. I also considered the 2022 WRX, however, it is ugly as fuck with no real gains in HP. Now the new 2022 GTI seemed like the only real performance choice for the money I wanted to spend. Then the Car and Driver review then came out for the 2022 GTI and I looked at the performance numbers. I was floored… the DSG was almost identical to the MK7 Golf R in every category, and even better.

2022 GTI 5.1 sec / 13.6 @105 MPH / 5.5 sec roll / .98g / 151 feet
2019 Golf R 4.9 sec / 13.6 @104 MPH / 5.9 sec roll / .95g / 159 feet

I then thought, would I buy a essentially a FWD Golf R for under 40k? Yes!! Yes, I would. But… what about that f-ing infotainment system?
I don’t like iPhones or touch screen phones, so I was worried.


Two weeks ago, I did a test drive of a black 2022 GTI DSG… WOW.

First off performance: The new steering wheel is thicker than MK7 and is weighted perfectly. The suspension is an absolute brilliant engineering masterpiece! In sport mode or above (performance trim) this car is so planted and that’s on my winter tires-rims! Without a doubt, this MK8 is better than any previous generation GTI in terms of performance.

The infotainment system: it’s great and intuitive. It’s gotten a bad rap, but I have zero issues with it. Easy to use and you can preprogram things, create shortcuts. The only real dislike is the camera and sensors… they are too sensitive in terms of going off when there’s plenty of room.

I ending up leasing the black 2022 DSG GTI (never, ever thought I would get a black car), but it was just too good and my white GTI on order might take months to get here. Take my opinion or leave it… I strongly recommend a test drive if you can get one to test… you’ll know what I mean when I say it’s truly a driver car… the best car I’ve ever owned in my 37 years of driving.

Where on earth are you from? In the UK someone your age would need thousands to Insure this car. Also don't be bashing a brand new car your parents bought you! You should love every single inch of that car that's alot of money

Hey bud. Assuming you knew you’d get hate for bashing a car that stock isn’t anything mind blowing. Also being very young people assuming your parents bought this out as well.
For all the people who said that, which I thought about initially however I know younger kids (I’m 29) that mowed lawns in the summers, which I also did, but then instead invested their 2k into crypto and now have more money in the bank then most “hard working adults “ I know. In your case you probably sold Nikes which and other kicks that still have fresh child labor slave blood on them.. good on ya 🤦‍♂️ don’t start bashing free market capitalism in a few years 🤣
So that being said.
I will still give you shit for 1 completely doxing yourself with your license plate. 😂 🤦‍♂️ and 2 not being old enough to appreciate what a Gti can do with a few simple things. Throw a sway bar at this and wait till the ecu can get cracked. Don’t think you’ll be complaining much after that. I have other things I can point out mainly frosting your tips but hell

Live your life, have fun with the car work on it then sell it and upgrade to an rs3 and laugh at the haters see you on the roads fellow masshole 😂 look out for a black R

Lol those rims are sooo ugly, what was VW thinking, looks like cheap plastic wheel caps from Walmart, not to mention the disgusting plastic interior and those stupid touch sensitive climate controls with no illumination at night, the new golf 8 it's a no no for me, dislike 😒
