Parts of Long Island are now joining Putnam and Dutchess counties in what's considered a severe drought due to very little rainfall, which creates a fire danger. CBS2's Carolyn Gusoff reports.

The problem is that there's nobody stopping people to waste all the water they need for unnecessary things. It's not like they will go to jail or fined for it, so they are allowed to do whatever they want with their water supply which to them is endless. I don't know how that will be regulated, especially since America is a "free country" for that matter.

Last week that wind scared me, I thought for sure there was going to be brush fires, I even took a drive around the area to keep an eye out since I live dead smack in the pine barrens.

Last year.. Henri, Elsa, Fred, Ida, Many Frontal systems Bought rain.. this year.. rarely anything and the huricane season is pretty dead

I already predicted a possible threat of drought was going to come to the state. There has not been as much rain like normally, so I knew this was happening.

The question no longer seems to be who is low on water but who isn't. It is almost like the Earth itself is claiming the water and turning it into thin air.🌀🌍💧🌎💧🌏🌀
