Dude thank you so much. I almost had a heart attack when I couldn't open those files with the X logo on them. To be honest I think microsoft needs to do a better job at OneDrive or at least make it more personizable for the user

Onedrive was honestly so inconvenient. First they gave me trouble with playing my videos and then they told me i need to pay them a monthly subscription for more storage space. At that point, i decided to unlink.

thank you, one drive kept adding files from my old computer onto my new one that I didn't want to be there and whenever I removed them they would get removed from my old one as well, which is where I wanted to keep them. This helps a ton.

Me too with the red x. After a week of trying fixes that don't work. I'm just paying them the stupid $1.99 for 100gb or. I feel like I am being held hostage. You have to delete Onedrive when the computer is brand new or risk losing files. Or perhaps save them to a flashdrive first and then delete Onedrive. MS ought to be ashamed.

This is a WARNING, be careful people. I'm really, really not happy; I'll just say that. Deleting my photos from One Drive ALSO DELETED THEM FROM MY PC!! I only wanted to keep them for myself, not have them out in the wild on another server I have no control over. As I was about to copy my photo albums to an external hard drive, I thought to remove them from One Drive first; I wonder if they would have been deleted on an external hard drive too. Photos I will never, never get back, and no one else in my fam has them. I checked my desktop media folder before deleting files from One Drive --and it was totally empty, so thankfully I realised what was happening and was able to keep my docs on my PC. This is a Google problem, but also an impingement on my privacy and ownership of data, which Google really has no right to be messing with.

We never give permissions to onedrive to auto backup our files. Why would they even back up everything in the desktop.
