My late dad, who passed away in 2022 at the age of 92, would have loved to eat some of Tim Walz’s tater tots hot dish!! He was still able to drive and within a year of his death, he got a high score on the shooting test required to renew his license to carry a concealed weapon in New Mexico. He was very proud of that. Like Tim Walz, my dad liked to shoot and once upon a time would go deer hunting. He was a gun safety freak. Tim Walz reminds me of my dad who was a lifelong football fan, especially of the high school team in our small town. He was the radio announcer for all the games for decades. The team has won many state championships over the years, which is amazing and almost freakish to me. Dad, a Democrat, served in the New Mexico State legislature for 16 years. He loved serving his constituents and making life better for people. Redistricting and GOP gerrymandering turned his district into one that would’ve been hard to win, so he retired from the legislature. Dad HATED Donald Trump and many of his friends became Trump supporters. He never stopped talking to them, trying to change their minds and he wasn’t afraid to speak out about the dangers of Trump. I’m grateful that he got to see Biden/Harris take the White House in 2020. Dad would have been so thrilled to see Kamala Harris at the top of the Democratic ticket and, as I said, he would’ve loved Tim Walz!! 💙

He’s just incredibly likable. When the veepstakes started, he wasn’t even in my top 5 favorite candidates cuz I didn’t really know too much about him. But within the span of a week, he quickly overtook everyone else & became my fave! And I’m a former Republican that left the party the moment they decided to attack the rights of women and minorities. But I would’ve voted for Walz even as a Republican, that’s how likable he is.
