Eating a STEAK at a STUNNING RESTAURANT in YORK!

Today is my last video in York and I've decided to visit Forest! Now, this was pot luck as I was on my travels walking through the heart of York and happened to stumble across it whilst visiting. The decor is excellent, the service was brilliant but the food... wow.

I'm here enjoying Mr Gary's videos, while he's still climbing up the ladder of fame! Once he gets popular and recognition for who he is, people will start interrupting the reviews! However, I do believe it won't be as bad as Rate My Takeaway because Danny is out on the street and Gary is nicely tucked away inside the restaurants! The restaurant looks just like my father's hunting lodge. He used to be an avid hunter. The restaurant's food is excellent, as my father occasionally goes there on his cook's days off. I agree the service and meal are both 10/10. I'm glad you are enjoying yourself in York and also, congratulations on reaching 5000.

I went here today Gary, with a couple of fussy eaters. The posh fish finger sandwich, the fish and chips and the steak that we had were a complete triumph!
These guys are hard to please but they were RAVING about the food, the decor, the general vibe and the excellent service.
What a great lunch - thanks for the steer and the review. This place is gold!

Having just watched your review of the York Roastery, the food at Forest was how it should be done. The steak was cooked to perfection, always telling if a chef can cook beef/steak to a medium rare or rare. The chips were great, although I winced that the steak was placed on on top of some of them so those were soggy. However, the chips that remained were cooked well-crunchy outside and soft inside. The crunch on the onion rings was outstanding. The vine grown tomatoes were a nice touch. I would gladly pay extra for the peppercorn gravy. Everything looked homemade, and cooked by a good chef and lime staff who know how to cook.Well deserving of the perfect score.

That looked like a really nice meal, Gary. A really rumpsteak can be difficult to get right, but they got it spot on. The chips looked perfect and the same goes for the rest of the plate. Made me hungry, mate! I prefer a filet steak or a sirloin steak, cooked rare. Another fantastic review, mate! Have a wonderful rest of your stay in Yorkshire. I've caught up with all the recent videos and YT decided to put this one forward instead. I must say, it hasn't really changed much and that is testament to the integrity since then. Honest reviews, nice editing, cameraman son gets a well done. The work definitely has put a few pounds on you since so perhaps just a nibble and pass on....
All in all, still a great watch. Well done, Gary and son. I'll be visiting here next time I'm up north.

Watching this early video shows how much you have developed your technique and become much more comfortable being filmed.
What a delight to see this small independent business offering such fine fare. Your plate did look amazing, especially the well cooked steak, The accompaniments were given the same care in cooking and presentation. And of course Gary you really show the best out of a place.
Even a year ago this was excellent prices.
When it comes to choice of steak, I do like all varieties of beef steak served medium rare, but my favourite has to be well done Pork Shoulder steak. It is juicy with well charred fat when cooked well.
