As a pharmacy student, this is not entirely true. The Al salts are actually protein precipitants, which means it can change the formation of cells and, when applied, urges the pores to close to the point that they shrink, but not so close that you stop producing sweat entirely. It's just reduced. So yes, antiperspirants and astringents work similarly.
However, Al salts do settle in between pores as if they clog it but not what it seems. Thanks Zack for the explanation!

if you use antiperspirant, don’t use them after a shower or when ur really sweaty!! i was doing this with prescription strength and kept breaking out horrible rashes. when the product mixes with sweat on the skin it forms salt crystals that work their way under ur skin and start to itch. and the scratching opens the skin more and its a cycle.

you must apply these kind of products before bed or when ur not sweaty and have time for it to dry. i started using the product the correct way after education from my dermatologist and i stopped sweating. i applied it daily for a week and then after that i apply every few days. and once you wake up you can wear normal deodorant to give you that good smell throughout the day!!

The real question is why does stress/anxiety sweat smell really bad and regular sweet from being out in a sunny day or going for a run doesn’t smell as bad.

Do not clogged it too much!! I always had to have a surgery to remove build up clog somehow turn into a sort of cyst, it was random, but it exactly happened when I basically went overboard covered lot on my underarm. Long story short, it dissipated. Thank God, doctor said if it was still there, it needs to be surgically removed.

When I was young and I used aluminum antiperspirants(i no longer use them) I would have outpouring of sweat from rib area or chest when I was working out instead of the armpit area.
