i love this movie, not many people do... but i think its because they have lost their inner child. this movie is so interesting. it touches on healing from tragedy, politics, and friendship. plus the fairy tale aspect is beautiful. The story structure reminds me of an anime. i recommend it.

the trailer suggests that it's more of a horror story and creepy but it's really not. It's a fairytale and I liked it because I didn't see the trailer before :) it's a nice movie to watch!

The only problem with this movie was the trailer mislead people to believe it was something that it wasn't. Night should have produced the trailer himself. That is all.

Most hate this movie just because M. Night directed it. And I don't think it's fair. I also don't like most of his recent movies but I personally love Lady in the Water. It's not a very Hollywood movie with explosions and superficiality. Most would probably snooze in the theater watching this but the few of us lucky enough would understand and enjoy the movie for what it is. It's about purpose, and believing in stories like kids we once were. :)

This movie is so calming. I fall asleep to it. I'm sure that's not what M.Night had in mind but in my view, it's something I can watch over & over, well the first 20-30 minutes anyway. After that, I'm in dreamland.

Forget the movie, the creativity of the "grass wolf" is so cool to me. I really wish it could have been developed more. It's sort of Miyazaki-like.

I think the scene when the main hero enters the blue world is amazing, you can see all the details in the underwater house like jewelry and furniture.
Another scene I like is the revelation of who the guardian is. Even though everybody thought that what the guardian guy did every day was crazy (building muscles on just one arm) it actually gave him a very strong one arm with which he would be able to hurt the beast. That is why the beast feared him, it's because he was capable of hurting it.

For all those who are seeing this movie as a thriller: this is all about life. The people who are guiding us through it, sometimes we just play the wrong role or see someone IN the wrong role in our lives. You think your girlfriend is the one you supposed to life your life with? No, maybe she's intented to be a very good friend of yours and not your lover. And so one. The essence of this movie. Guessing who is who in this lady's life? That's what it meant to me...

Really don't know why people expected twisted-ending movie too much from M.Night and keep disappointed. This film was, in fact, really good if people don't mind about the non twisted ending.

This was a good movie. Out of the films in his career that people deem "shitty", this was the best. It's miles above The Village and The Happening and Last Airbender shouldn't even be mentioned.

An excellent point. I hated Avatar. But immediately hating a movie just based on it's director is like saying a delicious meal isn't good just because the chef cooked something burnt yesterday.
