The 20 min a day really helps! Also the writing code part in particular is super helpful in actually understanding what your doing. When I'm watching a coding tutorial I always make sure that after I will do a project using what I learned. This helps to cement your knowledge and confidence in being able to do projects outside of tutorials. Also taking a break is very good as many programmers will tell you how they spend hours trying to figure out a bug only to figure it out easily the next day.

I've started using the 20 minutes technique to learn other things like drawing, painting, and music, and wow... it is absolutely amazing how much progress you make so quickly when you just do it for 20-ish minutes every day.

it's been 3 years since I started coding, and 3 years since I started watching your videos and I've never regretted clicking on one of your videos!
most of these tips are applicable to not just coding but life in general
please do keep up the good work Stefan, much love and respect!

As the saying goes in this Japanese proverb:
"Even dust if piled can become a mountain"

Trying to do it at the same time and having a ritual before starting also helps build the habit

Haven't learned to code like a pro yet but I've used this technique to workout and to sleep early

I would say it adds up small things build into big things, compound interest just instead of money its time.

thank you for this video, i think i needed to hear this. i've been putting a lot of pressure on myself to learn new language and do new side projects away from work but the immense pressure of trying to learn it all at once in the shortest time possible (i know when said out loud it does feel ridiculous) made me never actually do it.

i'll try to adopt this 20 minutes a day routine in coding and in other things as well in my life, thanks

Awesome!
Be confident only if you have discipline, otherwise you are going to fail, no matter how brilliant you are!

HAHAHAHA! I love the ending! "Besides of being a coder, I'm learning the art of the Click Bait." Awesome gems you're dropping Stefan and thank

It is also important to get at least 6.5-7 hours of sleep per night, or you will have a hard time committing to long term memory what you learned during the previous day. Your brain gets full of waste and toxins that it chucks in the bin, but it is like you didn't take the bin out for the garbage man to take away. Your glymphatic system can only dump all the crap in your brain into the lymphatic system during (good) sleep.

great video. what about 20 minutes a day of learning to code and then work on something such as creative writing for another 8 hours.
Will it work? 😁

I like this kind of click baiting since these kinds of videos really teach me something. So at the end I do benefit from these types of click baiting videos.

Just a month ago.

This click bait worked on me, but I like it as I got something out of the talk ... but then I always do get something out of Stefan

Technologies are moving fast and we need more time for practice, last year Stef`s recommendations were 15 minutes, now it`s 20. Coding time is like inflation nowadays.
