Today I show you my process on how I make my digital images look more like 35mm film! 35mm Film Photography has certain characteristics that give it that look and in this episode I shoot the Fuji Xpro 2 and show you how to edit your images to draw out those characteristics.

When it comes down to it, if you want the true analogue film look, you’re gonna have to shoot film!

Why didn't you just screen record your phone? I can't see shit

Another method is to take a film picture of a gray card. Scan it and put it on any digital image in Photoshop with overlay. Make the digital file a bit less sharp as well.

Cool to see someone using VSCO, I always thought it was low-key super impressive. Especially their exposure tool, seems to work better than any other app I've used, idk exactly what it is but overexposing with it looks super natural

Hey! Cool video. I've have a tip on using frames in Snapseed. The "frame" cuts into your image, but "expand" don't. So I always use "expand" instead. It has an quick choice of black and white as well. I had a really hard time seeing g the screen of your phone, unfortunately. Have an awesome day.

Dude, I want to watch this. The first part when you were out shooting is good. Then, after arriving home, this video gave me a headache trying to watch the out of focus phone screen. I know you're trying to share but this does us no good if we can't watch it and for me, I just can't. I honestly feel bad as this is my first comment on your channel and I despise it being a negative one. Maybe next time.

Good to know I’m not alone when it comes to applying grain on images. Your work is 🔥 🔥 🔥

Early digital cameras with CCD sensors render film-like colors and grain. There's a warm and vibrant look to the images taking with CCD sensors.

You should do a review on the new viral camera, the Paper Shoot Camera! I’m wondering how good it really is!

It would be sick if you had a video where you shared your camera settings for your POV videos, and maybe how you shoot, such as which focus mode, preferred shutter/aperture, etc. By the way...these photos SLAPPED! Nice work as always man!

Even if you could recreate it, the shooting experience will never be the same

The closest I've come to matching some of my film look is shooting a flat color profile and then using DXO Film Lab 6. Their grain is based on the actual film stock and most of their simulations are well done and fairly close and their BW stuff is great. You'll never get that "film glow", or other subtle things film just does, but Film Lab is worth every penny, especially if I'm mixing my film and digital shots in the same day.

I think it's key to shoot as flat as possible for any of the simulation types outside of the camera.

Bruh. Fujifilm Recipes is the way to get your photography to behave like film. Look into it; maybe you'll find the same experience I did while searching for the perfect "look." I'm talking hard to tell the difference between film and digital "perfect"

Fuji-X-Weekly showcases some of the best recipes that you can use on your fuji cameras but I've even started using them on my S20:U

Does VSCO handle dng files (ricoh raw) and raf files (fuji raw)? Or it only works with jpg?

Hey KJ. Great update. To get the film look I use vintage FD lenses on my A7II. Also the sensor is limited to 24MB which is ideal to use with vintage glass.
