Genious move by Ceasor having gained not only another Senator who will vote as Ceasor wants. He also gained an elite veteran centurion of the famed 13th Legion. Couldn't ask for a better bodyguard!

Antony’s insolent laugh is amazing I wonder if James intended that 😂

James Purefoy as Mark Antony is one of the greatest casting choices of all time. The man ate up that role.

Cicero was a plebeian himself, and proudly used his commings-up as a politcal bonefide in his legal rhetoric- it is *absurd* that they would have scripted him genuinely objecting based on class issues.

I love Marc Anthony's scoffing laugh

Appreciated and laughed at that line about all those years and being able to tie his sandals.

The portrayal of Cicero was a bit unfair. The show belittle him throughout until the final proscription scene where he showed courage. The real Cicero was a great politician and formidable intellectual.

The plebian/patrician distinction was already in decline by the late Republic. There were many rich and powerful 'plebs.' What was more important was whether one belonged in the senatorial or equite class.

Vorenius could have reached the ultimate level in the Roman society, making his name and family rich and powerful. But because of his close mindset he ruined his own career and his family, which he value so much.

Cicero showing how far he fell being a class traitor, ironic of him to treat Vorenus like a lowley Pleb when he was one himself.

Funny since Cicero was born outside of Rome, in outer Latium, and was considered something of a country bumpkin when he first came to the city.

At the moment I heard Tywin Lannister's voice coming out from Caesar's mouth...😮

"A lowly pleb" - what an anachronism. The conflict between patricians and plebeians was a distant past at the time.

Cicero was a pleb himself. It seems unlikely he’d make this argument based on him being a pleb alone.

I'm persian (arguably the last true rivals of Rome), and even I'm loving this depiction of Ceasar 😂

Dam they really did not do their research on Cicero, they butchered his character

Bringing plebeans directly into the Senate was... well genius.
Caesar opening the doors of power to the citizens that needed better democratic representation and allowing us Italians to partecipate is actually what made Rome a real superpower.

As a city-State, Rome was able to field just 4 Legions at the same time.
Including the Italians... well Octavian Augustus had 45 Legions at his disposal to fight Mark Anthony.

The Empire was built on the blood and sacrifices of the Italians and under the wise leadership of the Romans.

Cicero was quite the alternate reality character in this show. The overactions and drama are on point, but the things he overreacts in this show are mostly nonsensical.
