This is how I taught myself Hiragana and Katakana in 2 hours when I first started learning Japanese by myself 1 month ago.

Hiragana and Katakana are both extremely easy to learn and through the steps I give in this video, hopefully you will also be able to read Hiragana and Katakana in 2 hours.

I used a very, very similar method to learn the kana, but nothing solidified the connection more than writing and reading with them. Definitely a well made video in the sea of Japanese learning resources, and good to see that you stuck with it.

My old Japanese teacher taught me how to memorise the chart, it's a little chant that goes like akasa tana, hamaya rawa, n. Then you'll be able to fill in the rest of the kanas.

I have been trying to learn the hiragana for weeks!I knew some characters since I was young, but I couldn't memorize the rest, I followed what you said, it made a huge difference! I literally learned them in a few hours! I will start to do the same in katakana, but this time I know nothing about katakana...

Just a tip lear both scripts together. When you learn them separately, the one you learn first and use the most will be strangest. Make chart with 2 boxes in each space. 1 k space one h space for each vowel consonant combination. I start with k first because you use it less. Binding the hiragana to the katakana makes you less likely to forget.

For those that need help with the variations of た -> だ or は -> ば and so forth. You can do this for almost all of them.
T -> D (ぢ = Ji) (づ = Zu)
K -> G
S -> Z (じ = Ji)
H -> B -> P
Notice all changes require a similar tongue movement or use of air as it’s base character. You’re not making new characters, you’re modifying them. This provides you with a logical structure to recall for learning or remembering.

Side-note, I recommend downloading the Japanese keyboard to your phone. It categorizes all characters by family. Simply hold down on a character and watch as the related characters pop up. This will also help in the same way with pronunciation marks.

I think this is a lot easier for people who are naturally already fluent or native with Chinese, because drawing kana is quite different from writing Latin alphabet the way we are taught in the west. I think a few generations ago, (pre 1940s) western schools spent hours teaching a calligraphic approach, but I don’t think it’s given any real emphasis these days. Sadly.

Huh this is actually the method I thought of on my own. It's worked well so far.
