He was committed to Iowa for a long time until Alabama convinced him to change his mind. If he was already committed what was Alabama doing talking to him. He made up his own mind to go back to Iowa. Obviously he wasn't happy being at Bama. He'll compete with less 5-star athletes for playing time. Besides maybe he wanted to play for Saban and that dream is gone.

Some Bama fans are real here which I am. The Offensive Line Coach was awful and stunted his development tremendously. Deboer did not retain this coach when he came in and for some crazy reason Kentucky took him back. He would have been developed with the new coaching staff but the Transfer Portal is a joke. Bama has a lot of players waiting to get that spot and they will be fine. Bama has the 2nd most 5 stars as Georgia has more. Iowa does really well with Oline players that will play in the NFL from what I am hearing. Was it tampering ? Probably so but the NCAA is helpless these days and will probably do nothing. Majority of Bama fans are not upset due to he did not play well last year and it was the coaching staffs fault along with Proctor has to take some of the blame also. The problem with Iowa is that they do not have a lot of skill players and most of those players are in the South. Iowa needs to recruit in the South a lot better to get WR, RB, QB, etc. to be a contender. They need play makers and the Midwest does not have a lot of those players due to weather, population, etc. Bama is Bama and they lost a lot of players recently but the majority were bench warmers. Deboer will have this team in the playoffs as Sark and Lanning have never beats him. Sad but, a player can transfer again during the summer. It's pay for play, plain and simple. Of course they kept after him. They upped the offer multiple times as he progressed during the season.

I do think he was somewhat homesick. But someone around him should have pulled himaside and pointed out how much better he got during the season. Getting better is what will ensure an nfl career. He can certainly do that at Iowa, but he's definitely moving down.

The couple people he heard out was Ryan Day from Ohio State and Kirby Smart from Georgia before deciding to go home wherever he goes he’ll be in the NFL barring injury but going to Iowa he’ll only get 25 plays a game with their awful offense should have gone to Ohio State and been developed by a much better program with better coaching and tradition

He probably spent more time in and around the Iowa program? You’d have to go there once every 4 days in high school to reach the amount of time he just spent in Alabama.

I got nothing against the kid but the NCAA has to go after Iowa coaches though.

I really don’t give a shit at all about tampering in general; everyone tampers tbh…but this is definitely tampering lol. Iowa reaching out and giving this kid words of advice WAS Iowa’s way of recruiting him lol; they knew what they were doing ha. He even said that Iowa reaching out and saying they still believe in him was what persuaded him to go back home. 80% of recruiting these kids is kissing their asses and making them feel like they’re the only player in the world; this kid fell for it.
