Two books I recommend that have helped me are both written by Cal Newport: "Deep Work" and "Slow Productivity." Deep Work is about focusing on work that is important to us. Slow productivity is how to be productive as a human being instead of a robot. :)

This was really helpful! Gonna get some of these audiobooks. I think the thing I struggle with sometimes is looking at my art “as a product” I like trying different styles and I work in different mediums. But I know this makes it harder to market. At the same time, the whole point to me of having a creative career is to pursue my curiosity and explore.

I recommend "Million Dollar Weekend" by Noah Kagan to be super helpful and it actually has a decent overall tone with actionable goals. As a creative person, it's a bit rough reading business books because the tone in most business books is extremely arrogant to put it kindly aside from the icky vibes...haha. I try to remind myself to focus on the learnings and ignore the tone as much as possible.

Been playing with the idea of Print on Demand, however I'm not sure though if it'll be much of a profitable way of making income. I feel a lot goes to the company who does the printing and shipping etc. I'd like to really do commissions of pet portraits. But, AI makes this difficult as it is much cheaper to use some sort of AI service and pay maybe $50 for a pet portrait vs a traditional artist who puts in the time and material who charges $150 (depending on size, but it's an average).
Been thinking of starting a website so I can display my work as a portfolio, have a write up about myself as an artist and human being and connect a webshop to it. But...that requires monthly payments that I don't have as well....nothing is happening business wise and no money is coming in (yet). Sure, I can get a loan...but how long until I break even?? I'm a single mom of 4 and I can't just pull funds from supporting my kids...they still need to eat, lol. Currently working on my mindset though...if I dont' believe I can pull it off, it simply won't happen. So...that's where my focus is for now...manifesting, decreeing, calling things forth, praying. Meanwhile I keep creating and painting whilst making videos so I can monetize my channel. Baby steps....
