I'm an Indian who speaks both Hindi and English, I think it's just a habit for many bilinguals to mix both languages

Spanglish was a book that was published right after the French, Spanish, and Italian immigrants were all speaking half English mixed with their native French, Italian and Spanish language(s), to show that they all had similarity with learning the new language in New York City. There were 3 books published on all three immigrants, .This was almost 40 years ago. I remembered the Spanglish for the Hispanics, Frenchlish for the French and Itanglish for Italian immigrants. All three books were on a book store window display 40 years ago in Manhattan on 14 the Street.

It’s also because English is integrated in our culture since we are a US territory. We begin to learn English when we start school and universities have some of there textbooks in English automatically. It’s just assimilation lol

As a Venezuelan that grew up on Puerto Rico, I can confirm. They used to make fun of me for actually knowing the spanish word for it instead of using their spanglish. Perfect example of this is the fact that they call parking, parking. Like .... Thats literary a english word dude...

Everybody saying Americans use Spanglish but I lived in Puerto Rico till I was 12 and I can tell you HASTA EN LA ISLA we be speaking Spanglish 😂 (maybe not that exaggerated but still)

When I don't know how to say a certain word in spanish, I just add an e or a to the end of the word
